So, which do you think will be the more spectacular battle scene in the movies--Helm's Deep or the Battle of the Pelannor Fields. Pelannor is more grand in scope, but Helm's Deep has long been one of my favorite scenes in LOTR.

LOL...........I wondered what was going on there, when I saw that thread building and building every day it seemed!

I liked Lord of the Rings, and I liked the animated movies made before the latest LOTR, however, I wouldn't say I have a "Hobbit Habbit" as many of you on this thread seem to (after reading some of the posts.hehe).....BUT I have nothing against it or this newfound thread for Hobbit fans. I wouldn't mind seeing a Star Trek thread start up.......hell maybe I'll do it myself. hehe

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say that and have fun!

I've been a long-time lurker on FR, but this is my first post to the forum. In fact, although my wife (Rose_in_RoseBear) has been a member for a while I only recently joined, just so I could post to this thread.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know how much I enjoy reading this thread. It's become a comfortable place for me to "decompress" after a long day. And, sometimes I even learn something that I didn't know about the movie or trilogy, which is a good thing.

I expect I'll be posting more on-topic messages in the future... this one was just to introduce myself!

Orcs Replace Stormtroopers as Least Effective Minions

HOLLYWOOD (DPI) - Movie experts today declared that orcs are the least effective Minions of Darkness, displacing Imperial Stormtroopers from the top spot they'd held for a generation. "The inability of stormtroopers to hit the broad side of a bantha from point-blank range is well-documented, but it also must be remembered that they did play a role in the destruction of Jawa transport and the capture of Leia's shuttle," film expert Dwight Greenleaf explained. Trojan Discontinues Lord of the Rings Condoms


LOS ANGELES (DPI) - Trojan, the nation's largest condom manufacturer, will discontinue its series of Lord of the Rings condoms, company officials announced this week. "Despite the success of the movie and our numerous promotional booths at comicons and Tolkien Society meetings throughout the country, the Lord of the Rings series has been an inexplicable failure," said Trojan president Bert Fowler. Although sales figures for the fantasy-based prophylactics did not meet Trojan's goals, more than a few Tolkien fans purchased the Elvish-scripted condoms. "I bought a pack of ribbed Gandalfs," said Dan Murphy of Columbia, SC. "I put them on my bookshelf between my autographed Dr. Who script and my Babylon 5 action mug."
