I just watched the National Geographic video, "Beyond The Movie: The Lord of The Rings", and it's pretty cool (got it from Amazon.)
It has a lot of biographical info. re: Tolkien, and it includes several interviews with cast, including Orlando Bloom,Sean Astin, Liv Tyler, Cate Blanchett, Ian MacKellan, Christopher Lee, Elijah Wood..............no Viggo, though:( as well as on-location footage and clips from the movie. The idea is to show "how the imaginary world of Middle-earth reflects our own." It describes Tolkien's inspiration for creating the story as well as how he went about creating the Elvish languages, etc. You get to see "Hobbiton" before it became Hobbiton, and they talk about how they had to do stuff like plant the vegetable gardens a year before shooting started, etc.I really enjoyed it.

Well, it's Friday...............:)
I'm going to LOTR again tomorrow.:) :) :) Taking my younger son (19), also a college student.....he hasn't seen it yet.

Are they playing the TT trailer yet? My wife and I have considered going one final time just for that. It's hard for us to get out to the movies, unfortunately, so we've only seen it twice. :-(
To: MozartLover
Oooh, have fun! I am trying to hold out till TTT preview comes out, because I'm sure I'll want to see that more than once. I hope your son enjoyes it!
Let us know if TTT trailer is attached to it yet, okay?

I'd say it's better than the funky live-action/animation hybrid that only did the first half the trilogySort of like arguing the virtues of Wormtongue vs Shelob don't you think? I know, Shelob was a creature of power, whereas Wormtongue was only a corrupt human, but we are talking character here folks.

It's Morning! Espresso is brewing! - Are hobbitses awakes? Did they have nice sleepses?
To: HairOfTheDog
Well I am here, with a nice cup of tea, already did a response on the relative qualities on animated versions of LOTR. 'Where there's a whip, there's a way' indeed.

hehehehe - browsing throught that foriegn LoTR site that Penny found.... lots of jun behind the scenes pics....
Look at this one ;~D

Isn't this a pretty "Rupe Goldberg" sort of contraption they are looking at?
To: HairOfTheDog
Hobbit or Istari?
To: HairOfTheDog
Hobbitses have been awake and taking their carses in for servicing then doing grocery shoppingses.
To: Overtaxed
I am still sipping and wondering what to do today... the ponies will be fed, of course, but after that.... shall I clean? - or go for a nice ride? That is the question!
To: HairOfTheDog
If the ground is not too wet, I thought a bit of gardening might be nice. Or maybe I should go to the Dragon and try to lock Bombadil out of his own house.
To: Overtaxed
He will just sing his way in! Our ground is wet too... and still too cold for planting activities.
To: HairOfTheDog
LOL That's what Jen said. I've got plantses to divide before they get too much bigger.
To: Overtaxed
I think this is one of the pics that Penny posted in the egroup files, but here it is again. I love it! Oh my stars, I can't WAIT!!
Where do you think they are? Morannan? Ithilien?
To: 2Jedismom
There's greenery behind them so I'll say Ithilien...maybe while they're deciding what to do while Adequate is closing in.
