The first election I even remember is old Bush..The first one I remember (vaguely) is Dewey vs. Truman. I hadn't entered kindergarten yet, but I had a precocious interest in public affairs.

Hello! - Home from commute! It was not too bad today, no one crashed and blocked my path. Guess everyone wanted to be careful to get home safely and enjoy the nice day we have!
My first first vote was for Daddy Bush. Which means I have only won one election since then... eek. Not much of a record there.
Gotta catch up on the news and such - I'll be back!
Ginsu's Ready - I am headed for the news...

I can't really tell from that one, but I think there's a moment where we get kind of a closeup of him, so I might try to snag that one and see if we can tell.

Well, I guess the benefit of voting for the only candidate on the ballot is that you're certain to pick the winning side!

Very true! Less heartbreak and disappointment that way!

But no excitement whatsoever. However the governor's race in the fall might be interesting. Can PA actually elect a Republican candidate twice in a row? Or are we doomed to Democrats for the next few years?

And probably, this points to Tolkien's vastly deeper understanding of human nature than Lucas's. Tolkien seems to understand that when you're too far gone, the chance of you returning to the Light is incredibly slim. It is my understanding that George Lucas was very much influenced by Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth" when writing Star Wars. It may be the difference between Tolkien's Catholic worldview, and Campbell's pagan (in my understanding) worldview which colors the way the characters are created and grow.

What do you think? - Is your governor popular?
To: HairOfTheDog
Um, well, let's see. Ridge was at the end of his term when Bush drafted him. Nobody even knows who Mr. New Governor is - he isn't running. The Democrats have been throwing mud at each other for the past two months ("He's only running cause his dad was gov! Well, he was a bad mayor in Philly!") and the Republican candidate has... saved his money and gotten a new haircut. Seriously. Should be a weird race. No incumbents, nobody has a serious advantage, nobody seems to have a real Achilles Heel...

Sounds like there is more happening than here. We have a fairly popular (ugh) Democrat in office, whose Republican challenger last time was a local radio talk show host, who very well may run again this time around (John Carlson - he has subbed on a few national shows, perhaps even Rush). He is OK, but I don't think he is the most serious candidate we could put out there. I don't know that we will have a Republican governor any time soon.
To: HairOfTheDog
I don't think PA has elected two Republicans in a row in, oh, a century. Usually we switch back and forth...

Indecisive bunch, you are!
To: HairOfTheDog
No... just a lot of confused old people. PA has second highest concentration of geezers in the country, after Florida. So we have a lot of radio commercials for hair replacements, arthritis creams, and viagra. It's really lame being in a state with about six people under 21, especially when half of them are your siblings.

Found another site with great screencaps:
Image Galleries
The right side of the page is in English, and near the bottom of the page are links to 2 sets of screencaps. The first gallery has really high definition, very large screen caps, though it still has the black bars across the top and bottom of the image. The second gallery has much smaller images with the black bars cropped from the pic. The second gallery pics are smaller than mine, but the first gallery images are much, much larger than mine, though they might be close to the same size as the ones I put in the zip files for people to download.
All that to say, check it out--they're pretty cool! Of course, I still find myself wondering how this person has so much disk space available to store such large images (okay, the truth is, I'm just envious, lol).

Hmmm...I'm not sure that worked, Hair, I think maybe you should try another Aragorn pic (or 2 or 3 or 50) just to be sure....
just kidding....sort of

Those first ones do look really nice and big! - But then yours look good that big too webshots stretches them out... Dang... now I have to start over again!

I like yours best because they are so organized I can find things fast to post. The only good thing about these is that all the bad guys are in them too, just in case we ever want to post a Uruk-hai or something (I have noticed that you, like me, have opted to only capture the pretty folk in the story)

How is it workin' now?

Got you again here. My first vote was for Barry Goldwater for President. Only folks whose first vote was for Reagan, or maybe for President George W. Bush are in this class! And I thought I was old...LOL. I do have a letter from Goldwater. I wrote to him and he responded to me because I was a kid. I named my dog after him. Honest. To me, it was an honor. He must have seen the humor.

This is a test... this is only a test. If you're testing heart rates, mine went up a few points. Hubba, hubba.
