Get better soon, Rosie!
With you and 2J gone, who will play the pennywhistle?
Hurry back and good luck with that job. The best things in life are worth waiting for!

Oh dear... Didn't you get the memo? - There won't be any spam in the new Hobbit Hole! No SPAM? But that's, that's practically barbaric!!!
Harumph. *crossing arms* I'm not leaving then. I'll stay here in my nice snug Hobbit Hole (like any sensible Hobbit would) and let the rest of you go off on your silly adventure.
Yeah right! As if.
To: Sam Cree
I think that would be really nice. I am very much looking forward to meeting (in RL) everyone I have met here. This whole thing (this thread, and the folks I've met here) has been a bright spot in my life. And I have had a very good life. Same here, Sam. People may find it strange, but this group of cyber friends are as important to me as the ones I see on a daily basis (in some cases, more so).

WOW! A super funkle by RMDupree!!!
Sorry about that everyone, but I was catching up on the posts and didn't see the traffic jam until I was up on it. :)
To: RMDupree
It's OK Ruthie, do you know what a fedora is? I was over at Hair's hat thread just now, also catching up.
To: All
Good night, All.
To: Sam Cree
It's a hat.
...Seriesly, tho. It's a very dapper dress hat popular during the 1930s. Think Carey Grant, Film Noir. Narrow brim, usually a nice ribbon/band. Very yummy.

The girl who sings "Gollum's Song" reminds me of Edie Brickell from Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. Is she still married to Paul Simon (of Simon and Garfunkel)? I remember reading that they met when he hosted SNL and she and her band were the musical guests. They began dating and married soon after.

let me know how Nemesis is!Well, I sorta liked it... it definitely wasn't boring. I would say it's the best of the Next Generation movies, in my opinion.
My overwhelming thought at the end of the movie though, was how much better "Two Towers" is going to be, next week....
To: HairOfTheDog
I haven't heard definitively how it is used in the film yet. whether it is in the film, or just the credits. Have you?I had read somewhere that it would be played near the end of the credits as "In Dreams" was in FoTR. If you listen to the song, the orchestration at the end of it has a 'swell' and ends abruptly, like it would be if it ended the credits.

I'm so excited!!! I just found out that I won 2 free passes to see TTT on Tuesday night the 17th at 10PM through an AOL sweepstakes I entered! Way to go!! I entered that sweepstakes too, but I guess I didn't win. sniff sniff!Have fun and let us all know whether or not it is worth seeing. ;o)

Asking him to stand in what is sure to be a long line for a long time is a big deal. Then have HIM put the kids to bed and YOU go stand in line!
To: Lil'freeper
So, is that the hat that all those guys wore during the 30's and 40's?
Dad had one of those, but by the 50's, stopped wearing it, I guess it was out of style by then.
To: Sam Cree; All
Good morning! - Yes, I say that li'lfreeper answered your question about Fedoras last night! They are a bit out of style I suppose, but that is what I would change. men look good in them!
Very Rainy Saturday here... sipping some coffee and checking the news!

Official Site Update!
12/14/02, 9:14 am EST - Demosthenes
The official site has added the second interview with Peter Jackson. In this one, Jackson talks about the challenges in creating the Two Towers. So yes, there are a few spoilers here. [More]

Morning, Hair, Good morning, everyone.
Yeah, I wish we would wear hats, too. When it's very cold you just can't stay outside for long without one.
I agree with Bear, if you're just wearing jeans or something, a stocking cap or watch cap is the best, but if you are wearing something dressy, there isn't anything to go with it.
'Course down here in the subtropics, you need a hat to protect from the sun, but again no one uses one, except a ball cap, which doesn'nt help your ears or neck.
The Australians really do wear those bush hats all the time, not the city folks, but the farmers and ranchers from the outback. There was a huge agricultural fair going on in Sydney when we were there, all the guys from the outback were in town, all wearing their bush hats...really made them stand out from the city folk.
Have to go out for awhile, but will check in later. Sunny and a little cool here, about 72 degrees. Is there a degree sign on these keyboards, somewhere, I wonder?
To: Sam Cree
I have looked for the degree symbol too, because I think it used to be on typewriters! Maybe it was replaced with the ^....
Passing away the day, waiting for the rain to stop or TTT to come out, whichever happens first!
To: HairOfTheDog
Classics, like fedora hats (and Tolkien) never go out of style. I love those movies from the 1940s - everyone looks so spiffy.
To: Sam Cree
Morning!
Sam, you can get the degree sign ° with HTML. The HTML code is & # 176; without spaces and with the semicolon at the end. Or to insert it in a word document it's alt-0176.
It's snowing again here.

Morning, Jen, thanks!
It seems like we are getting more than the usual amount of snow for the fall?
See everyone later.
