" I've got power!"

Be careful how you use that power!

Mad Max is coming back!

Woo Hoo!! I loved those movies!! Thunderdome is my favorite, though, not only because of Mel, but because I just love the song sung by Tina Turner!!

Why should we fear to use it?

You CANNOT wield it! None of us can. (Except maybe Legolas.)

They never even asked him. I think he could do no wrong. (He is like the Marsha Brady of the fellowship - no disrespect intended...it's the hair) He's just so perfect!

I just had a horrid thought of Elrond married to a blonde female elf (didn't he have 3 kids, all of them dark-haired?)

LOL! If THAT doesn't get us both banned from Entmoot, I don't know what will!
It's the story of an elf named Elrond...

I'd like some of those cookies but I'm already on a sugar high. May I save some for breakfast?

Absolutely- they are cranberry-orange cookies. I'm waiting for them to cool before I frost them.

Congratulations on having power! From what I've heard, The Hound of the Baskervilles is a pretty good Holmes adaptation... but I've never seen it, I'm sorry to say.

Good to have you back, and glad you weathered the storm unharmed!

Good grief! 300 posts in a little more than 24 hours??? Looks like a whole lotta spammin' going on...

I am back. Barely. Drove thru the ice storm to get there. But stopped to get coffee and my car died. Turned out it was just corrosion on the battery cables. Yes, I should know better, but my mechanic and the dealer were under the hood last week.

I was late to the meeting. But it worked out 'cause I was able to give my bosses grief for not having their cell phones on.

Gotta run for now, trying to get some decorating done tonite. At least a wreath on the door and candles in the windows...performances resume tomorrow night.

Although there's a triple in the road ahead...I may have to check in later...

We gave this a lot of thought right after 9/11. Sir SuziQ decided the best way we could prepare would be to be in as liquid a position as we could be given the 401Ks and a home that we own. He's trying to get into a position that gives us plenty of cash on hand (in the bank, we certainly won't be putting it under our mattress!), and each time we have refinanced with the lower interest rates, we have lowered the mortgage amount so that we have more equity each time. This way, even if we have to sell the house at an amount that is lower than its value right now, we'll still get plenty of equity out of it.

If he could get a good paying job in the South, we could buy some land and build a house. We'd love to be more self-sufficient; deep well, solar electric and hot water, gray water irrigation system, wood burning inserts in the fireplaces for better efficiency, lots of trees to burn, a garden, pond etc. Ideally this shangri-la would be on a lake so I can sit on the porch in a rocking chair and drink coffee every morning, or whenever I felt the urge. I love the water, and would love to live where I could see it all the time.

In that place we'd feel less tied to what happens in the cities, and I think we'd feel safer. With greater self-sufficiency, our lives would be less disrupted if the infrastructure of the nearest city were out of action for a while.
