Yeah, but fraternal...but we are very very close, tho opposites in many ways.

She irritates me, mostly because she was so stupid in the first book, and still deluded in the second. She did get a little better.
However I'll root for any Stark over any Lannister any time, and Dany - ergh, those chapters are IMO the most boring in the series, other than the page after page of Tyrion. Tyrion's not bad in politics but his personal life is dumb.
I still can't believe Martin killed Ned! He was my favorite character.

Wow! That voice is going to take some getting used to, but what lyrics! No kidding...it's just so...mournful.
"So in the end, I'll be what I will be. No loyal friend was ever there for me."
Hmmm...I've never thought of Gollum being jealous of Frodo before, but this song made me think of that angle.

when Ned got killed, we knew anyone might die: the Bear, etc.
To: Sam Cree
True. But it seems wrong that one of the only decent and honorable people in the entire world got killed before the action even started. I did like Jon getting promoted at the end of the last book after he decided to honor his vows. That seemed right.

So you were right on the hardanger - good ear! Not my ear... one of the soundtrack reviewers clued me in to that.
IMO, the score for the Two Towers feels much more epic. The one for FotR is good -- excepting tracks 3-8 with that awful Ringwraith theme.

Hey folks! Just stopping by to say "Howdy!"
As far as country music goes, my heart belongs to Randy Travis. His voice is just so, so....warm, I guess could describe it. I like a lot of other country singers too. Another favorite is George Jones. My late father-in-law used to play White Lightning every morning at the crack of dawn! The only music I can't take for very long is rap music. And the only music I could listen to forever is either Frank Sinatra or Pink Floyd (what a weirdo I am!).
I was born in '73, so that means I hit the big 3-0 in January. YIKES! Bye, bye roaring twenties!
My internet connection is even slower here at home than it is at work, so it's frustrating to be on very long. :(

My brother and me own a boat together named "White Lightning," so of course, I like that by George Jones. I remember when it came out, too.

Ah! Here is a pic of the one I bought: I found one on half.com just like that one for our Tolkien geek 15 yr. old daughter! I think I paid something like $10 for it as well. She was thrilled to get a hardcover copy of it.

That's neat!
I like The Corvette Song and He Stopped Loving Her Today also. Oh yeah, and of course, I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair!!!

"anyone might die: the Bear"
Yeah, wish it wasn't so...life is precious.

Howdy! :)
I agree with you on Randy Travis and George Jones too!
Rosie, another Texas country group I could recommend is The Derailers, especially their album "Here Come the Derailers". Can't find samples of their stuff though, unfortunately!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Oh sorry, Bear, I meant Lord Rosemont.
To: JenB
Oh, never you, BearWell, that's good to know! ;)
Have a good night!

Me too! I'm a BiCentenial Boy!LOL! Sir SuziQ and I have been married longer than you have been alive!! Lord, I'm getting old!!
To: JenB
Any chance he'll kill Sansa this book? Not any time soon. Those vying for the throne have a better chance of dying.
I hate the Sansa character too. However, Martin pointed out in an email that she wasn't entirely responsible for Ned's death.
My favorite character is Sandor Clegane. He fits the archetype of The Stranger perfectly.

Country twang sneak!
