I sit here this morning allowing myself to feel a bit sorry for myself that my Mom isn't here, and that this Thanksgiving will not be quite whole without her. I will wear her ring today, as I do when I want to have something tangible I can focus on when I am missing her.
Soon I will be going up to the beach house, and it will be nice. Not the same, but the best today I can muster. Good things are still here.
I don't know what words I can offer to you this first Holiday season without your Mom. These first clumsy years without her there making the Holiday right are tough. I have gotten through it some years better than others myself.
But I am thankful for the years I had my mom, thankful that my memory of her is still clear on these days, and thankful that my dad and brother are still here. I am thankful that a new lady is in my dad's life, and that her loving hands are in that kitchen making a wonderful meal for us. I am thankful that there will still be laughter and smiles today. I am smiling now through tears at this silly sneaking and chit-chat that has become our wonderful Hobbit Hole. I am thankful for all the real friendships that we have found here. And I am thankful that TTT is coming out in 19 days.
You will find your courage Rosie!
I will not have time to catch up on the posts today but I should be here for the better part of tomorrow.
My prayers are up for each of you on this Blessed day, that the Lord protect and guide you, that He fill you with joy and peace, and that He keep those of us traveling on the roads safe from harm. For those of us who find the holidays a bit difficult to deal with, my prayer is for the Lord to ease your hearts and minds and replace sorrow with happiness and tranquility.
I also thank God for the Hobbit Hole and the friends I hold so dear that dwell within its virtual walls. Until tomorrow my fellowship, may He hold you in the Palm of His Hand.
Eat Lots. Diet Later.
Stretch those pants like a true trencherman!
...Or maybe, a true HOBBIT.
Looks like we'll have sun Hair, once the fog burns off (it's REALLY dense here on the westside).
Jen, I am glad you included the confused people , that way we know everyone is covered in our thoughts this thanksgiving day! (What on earth?! ;~D)
That's how you got over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house!
Yes, they are.
Bay, thank you for carrying me and being my friend. Your beauty and work ethic are an inspiration.
Pony Lumpkin, thank you for being the light of Bay's days. Your spunk and energy keeps him young!

Seems appropriate for today. Happy Thanksgiving.
