I have a Manhattan clam chowder recipe that has you adding Worcestershire sauce at the end. Tastes funny without it.

Hm...I'm thinking of something more obvious...like forgetting to pick up potatoes to make stew (though that takes too much time...)

250 words to go! I may at least get close! This chapter is taking forever to finish, but it's an important one, so I guess I gotta let it...

How about a chicken dish (chicken pot pie or something) and they forgot to get the cranberry sauce?

Eggs with no ham
Grits with no gravy
Macaroni with no cheese!

Back to the Elves. I tink we know now why Rivendell has no outhouses. Rivendell needs no outhouses.

What's a meal that would be incomplete without one particular ingredient that would be added towards the end of perparation?

Um... plum pudding? That you douse in brandy and set on fire?

Manhattan clam chowder? - Worcestershire sauce? - That is just so wrong!

Manhattan is the tomato based one, right? It's the New England clam chowder with all the milk.

I like them both, but Manhattan has all those veggies that are good for you.

I had fish chowder for lunch at a Christmas bazaar here...met up with some friends and we shopped and ate and shopped and ate some more. It was gooood!

(So was the fudge, and the fudge, and the cookies, and...)

Probably a LOT lower in calories, too, I would imagine.

I'm going to go with something a bit unreasonable, because it fits the story.

Woo-hoo! Quota PASSED (13 words over, even)! I'll get it posted...

OK, it's up here. Just did it in doc format today as there's an image (forgive it's imperfections...I'll fix it by the end of the month), and I can't do a straight save as html from Word (which adds a bunch o' crap to the code anyway, so I SHOULD probably just be doing it in notepad...)

Hi all.

Just walked in and Jr. and I are waiting for a pizza. I'll give a quick update and then read back through to find who stole my quadruple precious...

My f-i-l is home, weak and cranky. When Jr. and I got there last night, I didn't think he'd make it through the night (his breathing was very rough). But he's cantankerous enough to be with us for a good while yet. What we know is he won't recover from this, but we don't know how long.

Jrs' football team played their first game in the playoffs tonite and lost, so they're out. But they're still proud because there association has never had a team at their level make the playoffs before. They were the bottom seed against the top seed and lost 24-0.

Silly us got distracted with all of life and let the oil run out (darn foolish virgins...). So the house is cold. Fortunately, it's not as cold this week as it was last week. Also fortunately wife and little one aren't here. So we'll see if we can get an emergency delivery tomorrow and Jr. and I will just pile on sweatshirts and extra blankets. He suggested camping out in the back yard because he thinks it's warmer outside. I told him to go for it and tell me about it in the morning.

Okay, I'm off to read through the posts before the pizza comes....

Corin, I'm glad to hear your FIL is home, at least. I'm sorry to hear about the oil predicament. Hope you have a good, if cold, evening...
