Right. I'll only need the hot pokers if I meet Scarlet. Got that.

No, Rhett always said a good buggy whipping is what she needed. I agree with that. Now, I will admit the older I get, the more Scarlett gets on my nerves and the more Ashley grows on me. I used never to like Ashley. My word... you lost the war, get on with life, until I had the same kind of life altering disaster happen in my life. Then I knew why Ashley had such a hard time moving on. I understood all his fear about being winnowed out and his talk about the dusks of the gods, etc. Understood it perfectly.

I know you listen to Glenn Beck, did you just hear that caller from Miami-Dade County? You do know he's (Beck) is pulling your leg don't you? (please tell me that you do...)
Still, I think he's probably not that far off base.

But as it is...I can't see anyone falling for Ashley. Too much of a namby pamby type. He wasn't so poofy in the book...
To: carton253
Ashley's a pathetic twit, Melanie's spineless, Rhett's annoying - I think he's in the wrong book, actually, - and Scarlett should be left to starve in the snow. Or something. Other than the characters and the plot, it was a good book.
Now, moving on - who gets to have a nice election day where the Republican will win?

"You're Top Gun in my book Rosie. Call me.... Eeeeeeyuuuck! Thanks a LOT! Now I gotta see THAT every time I refresh the screen until we make it to the next precious???
To: JenB
I hope it's me! We're going to a watch party tonight, so I have to make sure our best clothes are cleaned and pressed. Cockfighting is being voted on this time. Whether or not to make it illegal. A felony at that!

Don't read that book! It's horrible! It sucks! It was the worst book I have ever read... Oh, stop being such a yankee...
There are books that every "literate" person should read. I'm slowly working my way through them (and wish I had a better list). But GWTW is one that should be read.
I still need to read "From Here to Eternity."

No more preciouses for you... LOL!

You do know he's (Beck) is pulling your leg don't you? (please tell me that you do...) Yes, I knew he was joking around. He had me in tears.
Then the guy calls back from GA, MN & TX complaining people are yelling the N-word at him when he tries to vote Dem and then gets beaten with a BLACK bat. ;^)

Caller: "Every time I tried to vote Kirk it came out Cornyn."
Beck: "So you're a big Kirk supporter?"
Caller: "Yes I am."
Beck: "Ok, if you're such a big Kirk supporter, what's his first name?"
Caller: ".........................uh...........Captain?"
Beck: "Good-bye."
That was classic. I've only just started listening to Beck. I think I am going to continue. His bits are hilarious.

*Sniff* Well, I am a Yankee - in the tradition of "Yankee Doodle", thank you very much.
And I'm also very literate, but I don't really like most classic works. Oh, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Tolkien, Lewis, Chaucer... hmm, there's something I notice about this list. My fun-reading books are more American, though; I would put certain writers on the classics list who are not on there because they haven't been dead long enough and also wrote SF.
Besides, Marcel Proust is one of those writers I've seen on the "be literate and read this" lists. So those lists are flawed. The only thing one should read to be literate is Lord of the Rings. Hey! Why don't we start a thread about that!

It wasn't meant as advice...just encouragement ;^)
Is Netanyahu going to accept Sharon's offer?
To: ksen
complaining people are yelling the N-word at him when he tries to vote... I learned a new word this weekend. Apparently if you're a white kid that dresses like a black kid you're a "W*****" (the N-word with a W)...

Well, I am a Yankee - in the tradition of "Yankee Doodle", thank you very much. But if it hadn't been for us Virginians, y'all would still be speakin' English...okay enough of that.
I know you're well read. Much better than most of today's college age crowd. I'm really okay that you don't like GWTW. But I still think that culturally one needs to have read it. If nothing else for a understanding of southern culture and the mindset of the time. Same reason everyone needs to read Huckleberry Finn (even with "that word" in it).

Is he online? He sounds hysterical!

Yes, Netanyahu did accept Sharon's offer because Sharon agreed to the conditions. In February, new elections will be held. Hopefully, Bibi will win... and Israel will have a warrior in the office who will stop the terror.

Corin.... Jen played her cards when she dissed anything romantic.
The loves I loved most so far in my life were horribly flawed, as all of us are when we look real close. Selfish, vulnerable, charming, and childish, but they rocked my world and made it blurry and wonderful.
I for one am a sucker for romance!
