What's the significance of the quote?
Let's wait and see if we can figure it out from context..... (my age is showing I think)
I suppose I'm solidly with those weak-willed men. Maybe the lakemen. Or the Beornings. Perhaps the Gondorians. I think I share certain personality traits with pompous master of the Houses of Healing, whose name escapes me at the moment. In my better moments, I aspire more towards Imrahil. Too many choices!
At least we eat well!
Hobbits have more fun.
Just about. But ksen will love the company if you're a man. He's been the lonely Man of Gondor for a long time... And Bear is the only Beorning. We could use an ent. Ever considered being an ent? No, me neither.... A little too....too....old and earthy....
I only chose dwarf because when you go to Corin's profile page there is a link to a site that tells you your possible Middle Earth names (after keying in your real name), according to the Red Book of Westmarch. I liked my dwarf name best, plus I stumble a lot. Definite dwarf tendency.... But take your time....what's the rush....just don't get too hoity toity on us..... ;^)
Having been away from the Hobbit Hole for several weeks, I forgot how much fun it is in here!
When I read the trilogy aloud to my wife and boys earlier this year, I tried to do all of the voices well. Treebeard was a huge favorite, along with Gimli and Gollum. And Sam, I suppose, because he comes across as such a hick. A lovable hick, of course!
I love reading it out loud too.... My 11 year old son has been devouring them after I first read him The Hobbit and FOTR aloud to him two summers ago. Then this past summer he read the whole trilogy and, after a break, has restarted the TTT to get ready for the movie....
I'm very proud of him....
Do it! Jump in and do it! Even if you only write three pages that's more than you would have otherwise!
Just today? Anyway...the dwarves and the Gondorian were worse than I!
My 10 year old will likely tackle the trilogy on his own this year, after he finishes the Harry Potter books. We're planning on making a family reading of LOTR a yearly tradition, starting in the winter and finishing around Easter.
Definitely took my lead for some of the voices from the film version. Although my Gandalf is more like the old Hobbit cartoon. The toughest part is distinguishing the men, they can start to sound alike. Oddly, I found Merry and Pippen tough as well. Samwise is slow and rustic, Frodo tortured and sensitive, but I found less "voice" in Merry and Pip's lines even though they're two of our favorite characters. Oh well, maybe I'll hit on something next year.
I read somewhere that Christopher Lee has read the trilogy every single year for decades. What an inspiration!
Here I am Hair, working my way through the day's posts!!
