I don't buy the notion that it's wrong to express anger and frustration with God. That's a part of our human nature and part of the way He created us.

My mother told me a story about her paternal grandmother that reflects that. When my gradfather (her son) was diagnosed with stomach cancer and told he had 6 months to live, his mother went into her room and had a 'come to Jesus' meeting with the Man himself. My grandmother heard her outside the door telling Jesus and his Mother to sit down because she wanted to have a talk with them. She told them that her George was a good boy and that he had little children and it wasn't time for him to go. She told them if they wanted somebody, they should take her instead. Well about a year later, Grandaddy was fine, but his mother had died. He lived long enough for the baby of the family to have gotten up and grown and died in 1950 at the age of 58, three years before I was born.

Ah, the power of intercessory prayer, or at least persistence in this case.

Oooohhhhh! I am going to be at the theatre for a 6:45 showing of "Jonah". I'll have to check and see what times "Red Dragon" starts.

We had a mini doxie when I was a teenager; (she was also Susie) She used to have a great time trying to get squirrels in our back yard. I once saw her climb halfway up a tree going after one!

Mine hasn't had a chance to try for squirrels yet, but I'm sure she'd LOVE to try! As for the climbing bit...she unfortunately has great skill in that department. I can't leave anything remotely edible on the table unless there's nothing she can scoot over to get up on the table. And scolding doesn't seem to do any good! The labs we had growing up wouldn't do things again if they'd been caught and scolded - they HATED to offend us. Dachshunds, on the other hand, have no consciences...

I am almost postive it would have given me a nervous breakdown if I'd seen it without being able to slow it down on the computer. It is really a sensory overload in almost every way.

That's what I should have done with the preview at the end of FOTR. Just waited and watched it on the computer. But I didn't and nearly fainted during it! I broke into a sweat and my hands shook and all the hair stood up on my head! LOL I know, I get rather excited. I'm learning how to deal with it to decrease the impact.

You should carrying around an emergency I.V. of chamomile tea. You feel a "spell" coming on and hook that bad boy up.

My grandmother heard her outside the door telling Jesus and his Mother to sit down because she wanted to have a talk with them.

Our Pastor told this story recently in a sermon.

An old man was dying and the family called the minister in to talk with him about his spiritual condition. The minister visited the old gentleman in his bedroom and noticed a very ornate chair sitting over to one side. But it looked as if no one ever sat there. The minister asked about the chair.

The old gentleman said, "I'm a very visual person. I don't have much education. So when I talk to the Master, I imagine Him sitting there in the chair."

The minister left and on his way out told the family they need not worry about the old man's spiritual condition. A few days later the minister received a call that the old man had passed.

"How did you find him?" asked the minister.

"It was the strangest thing. He had gotten out of his bed and was on the floor. But his head was in the chair..."

Another thing, the sound was almost deafening, and with just my one good ear, it was really unbearable. So pile that on top of not being able to tell what's going on, I can imagine it would have been quite nerve-wracking. I am thankful for the internet and plan on just calmly taking advantage of it from now on.

I could watch it calmly, because I knew all of it.

The Secret of Roan Inish

That is one of the sweetest movies I've ever seen! I heard Michael Medved recommend it once, and finally found it a few years ago. The film is just magical and the music is lovely!

Current threads over in the "Smoky Backroom": 1) Finding Peace 2) The Eucharist of Jesus Christ Something seems quite ironic about that......in a sad sort of way...

But they sure can put on the 'pitiful face' when fussed at, can't they?

I am glad you snuck in and saw it!

Yes, at this point it would be neat to see it in the theater because I would know what to look for and what to expect.... I imagine even I would have had palpitations if I had seen it first that big and that loud! - And then had it end and go on to some other dumb trailer.... "WAIT! - STOP! - Go back!"

Yes, it is truly sad that a religious debate must be sanctioned into first their own forum (which I agreed with very much), and then sometimes to the smoky backroom because people can't even behave on that subject! Has anyone found peace there?

What, because "Eucharist" is the biggest thread since the last Mormom deal?

Hi all. Here briefly. I have to take sibs to see a play tonight. Can't find Veggies anywhere near us! AHHH!

As for the novel thing, I had a great idea and have a plot-gem now, as well as some characters. This is gonna be so fun!
