No more Sesame Street potty seat in the bathroom, for the first time in years.Yeah, I definitely know that feeling, I was always a little sad, but also proud, when the kids moved on to another stage...
Now they're both away at college, we miss them so. But I find the increased time spent with my wife to be wonderful in its own way, we've been lucky.
We found a litter of abandoned hound dog puppies in the woods in Virginia last summer, took one home with us (named it Fiona McCool, after the legendary Irish warrior) to Florida, my wife thought it would be nice to have a baby in the house again.
'Course it chewed a couple sizable holes in the living room couch, which the kids never did as babies...a very sweet animal, though.

I don't mind them being irritable, but why rain on my parade? LOL Grumble, grumble, grumble.....are you one of those people who have to force their cheerfulness on the rest of us? :)
To: Overtaxed
LOL! Yep! Have you ever seen that Kibbles and Bits commercial with the little fox terrier and the English bulldog walking down the street and the fox terrier is bounding over the bulldog as they walk? Actually bounces off the back of the bulldog? Well, that's a perfect picture of Steve and I! Ha ha!
Sometimes I'll be really cheerful and he's really grumpy and I will suddenly turn to him (all smiles) and say "I'm really cheerful right now...if that changes, you'll regret it."
Usually he cheers up pretty quick.

Hehehe....If Mom ain't happy....
That dog bit is like the Warner Brothers cartoon with the bulldog and terrier (Chester and Spike?).

I'm watching the UNC Ga. Tech game right now with the radio up and the TV volume down. The Ga. Tech QB is Bilbo so I'm over here going "Sack Bilbo!" If I weren't watching it on TV, I'd be seeing hobbits playing football in my mind's eye.

I just came in from scooping up the dirt mounds that the gophers push up. Some were huge, took several bucketfuls to haul it off. I pour the dirt next to the fence where our neighbor's dog dug holes to fill them in. It's looking good!

We're talking about redoing the bathroom. It's revolting. It is painted the color of lime sherbet...cabinets and all. And it has this dark emerald green carpet. I don't like having carpet, especially living with three guys!
I want a nice linoleum floor with a pretty blue pattern on it and the walls and cabinets painted a normal "antique white" color! Either way, the carpet is very likely going to "go" tomorrow.
I used the green color in the bathroom to good advantage however. I decorated it in "peas". ROFLOL!!!

Yeah, I definitely know that feeling, I was always a little sad, but also proud, when the kids moved on to another stage... I have a picture of our #2 son sitting on his potty chair with a crocheted toilet paper cover on his head like a hat!! My Mama always loved that puctire because she's the one who made the cover; it was my 'Christmas' one in red, green and white yarn!

HI Sam, whazzup!? Just retrieved our daughter from the town common where she was selling hot dogs and doing face painting with her Girl Scout troop. Our town is celebrating its 275th birthday this year. There is a big parade tomorrow, and both our daughter and son will be in it with their Scout troops.
It is a gorgeous weekend here; the heavy rain came through last night and the day has been sunny and windy. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and cooler, which will be great because the parade goes two miles straight down Main St. from the middle school to Dean Park, and if it were hot it would be unbearable!

I was weeding around the lettuce and turnips today. The deer have eaten the blackeyed peas to the nubs and are starting on the peanuts.
Let's see.....I need to redo the bathroom (at least I don't have carpet to pull up), the bedroom, replace the deck with a screen porch (with a pet door for Her Majesty), landscape the entrance with a hobbit perennial garden....I'm too exhausted to do anything! But I have time for whistling. Gave my Meg a workout during the first half of the game.

We're having nice weather.
Working on a charcoal self portrait at the moment, which is our homework every week from the figure drawing class I take at the community college here. Considering putting my image in a "I'm the NRA" T-shirt to see what reaction from the liberal professor, though I like her.
That's a very old town you live in, I guess Miami's 100, but barely. I'm supposing it may not be a huge town if the kids can sell hot dogs on the town common. Don't think southern towns have "commons."
My son was a scout too, did well there.
To tell you the truth, I was very relieved when the kids were toilet trained, I may not have missed diapers and stuff too much. I do miss Christmas in the old days, though, when the kids' grandparents were still alive.
Are the leaves turning where you live? It'll be fun to see the kids in the parade tomorrow. I guess all the town equipment, like fire trucks and stuff, will be in it too.

Hi, all. Lousy afternoon here. I have an absolutely blistering headache brought on by too much noise, lack of sleep, and responsibilty. I took two aspirin an hour ago and they've had no effect; it's actually getting worse. 2J, you're a nurse, right? What can I take so soon after aspirin? I have ibuprofin, tylenol, and acetominiphine with codeine.
And no good telling me to lie down - my sisters are off babysitting which means I have to watch the brothers or they'll eat poison and die.

Don't take the codiene if you want to keep your senses about you. Best thing to take is the Tylenol.

Ok, thanks. I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll feel better soon!
Things are a little better now - we turned on our "Jonah" preview video. It's actually pretty good and I'm looking forward to seeing the real thing. I do like VeggieTales... last spring, in a history class, one of my friends asked me and our other partner if we had ever heard of VeggieTales and was horrified when the two of us broke out in "The Waterbuffalo Song". But it's so silly. One of the few things my whole family likes. (The others are Star Trek, Harry Potter, and Third Day music. We're kinda odd...)

We're wild about VT! Can't wait till October 4th! We also all love the Adventures in Odyssey tapes and videos. Our favorite is Baby Daze. Teaches the value of life.
We're off to Lowes now to look at flooring. I've had it with this green carpet! LOL
To: 2Jedismom
I don't like Odyssey - too close to that old "let's show children doing lots of things wrong and being sorry in the last five minutes, so it's ok" formula. Same problem with most "Christian" kids' books. VeggieTales has more in common with, well, Winnie the Pooh than Focus on the Family stuff - and that's a good thing.
Have fun shopping!
