Did you'all know Gandalf had tears in his eyes when he had to refuse Frodo when he was begging him to take the ring? :: snif:: Cool picture, Penny1! I noticed that when I saw the movie (but which time..?)That's what made the scene so effective!

Greetings, sir Dwarf! I like your screen name... are you a good one to have around in a fight? Thank you for the welcome. We'll see how I do in a fight. I have journeyed in those more quarrelsome parts of FReerepublic, and I do not wish to pass that way again.

Did anybody else think there was a remarkable similarity between Aragorn at Helm's Deep, with the arrows flying all around, and Elrond at the Battle of the Last Alliance at the beginning of FOTR? That scene of Elrond (with the arrows coming from BEHIND according to my daughter) is one of my favorites in the WHOLE movie!! I thought Hugo Weaving was GREAT as Elrond, although around our house, we've gotten into the habit of saying from time to time, "Mr. Underhill" in that 'Agent Smith' voice!

Me either.... although now and then I look in and laugh, I am too wise to engage in the fierce battles. Sounds like you'll fit in at the Hole pretty well... how many times have you seen FotR?

Welcome to the Hobbit Hole, where hobbits, dwarves, elves and men can live together in realtive harmony. We may like to goad one another at times, but as we know about the hobbit hole, it is "not a nasty, dirty, wet, hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it [is] a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

Sounds like you'll fit in at the Hole pretty well... how many times have you seen FotR? We'll see if I fit in. I've only seen it twice.
But I recently re-read the book and plan to re-read The Twin Towers over the summer.

Thank you for your welcome.

We'll see if I fit in. I've only seen it twice. Well I've only seen it three times in the theature, and 1/4 of my pirated version. It doesn't matter how many times you've seen it. There are a lot of people here you can learn from. The more the merrier right?
To: htur_75
The more the merrier right? Right. I shall enjoy sitting by the fire with a good pint and listening to the stories from you fine folk.

Pints!
Is it Happy Hour yet?

Is it Happy Hour yet? It is somewhere...

I just wanted to let you know that I read Lawhead's
The Iron Lance a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was very good and am looking forward to reading more of his stuff. Thanks for the recommendation a while back.

Oh, good, I'm glad you liked it! I really enjoyed his Arthur stories, if you're into that sort of tale it's worth a look. And Byzantium is one of the best works of historical fiction I've ever read.

That scene of Elrond (with the arrows coming from BEHIND according to my daughter) is one of my favorites in the WHOLE movie!!I really liked that whole Last Alliance scene as well. One of my favorite parts is when the orc horde is just about to slam into the Elven front line when all of a sudden the Elves slice their swords (staffswords?) upward in unison. It's like a huge wave of orc death, but then I'm a guy so I expect it is alright for me to like some of the more violent scenes. ;^)
I thought Hugo Weaving was GREAT as Elrond,....
I actually thought he was one of the weaker members of the cast, although he still did a good job.
...although around our house, we've gotten into the habit of saying from time to time, "Mr. Underhill" in that 'Agent Smith' voice!
LOL! That is too funny. ;^)

Hello, everyone! My brother told me I hadda come post, so here I am. Guess I really dropped out of sight, no? I've kind of been lost with the new format, and also I no longer have a computer at home and we're suddenly busy at work. Excuses, excuses, I know...
I'll try to pop in now and then, but I feel sooo behind!

Welcome Back! While you're here, have a pint and some chicken wings (along with a few seedcakes and lembas.)
