I want it, but don't own it yet. Only have a couple of DVDs now. :-(
I DO have O Brother and LOTR, which are both worthy of many, many viewings, so it could be worse!

By the way, if you parse the Oracle's talk with Neo (Clinton-style) she never tells Neo that he's not The One.Good catch!
I caught that on my second viewing.

...Neo definitely had Christ-like overtones to his character.Maybe we would be more accurate if we said Neo, especially at the end, had a Christ-like sledgehammer. ;^)

Maybe "overtones" was the wrong word for me to use... I was thinking of some of the superficial similarities, such as "The One" had left, but was prophesied to return one day; Neo's "dying" and being "resurrected", stuff like that.

We only have about 5 or so DVDs, but Matrix was such a favorite that we made sure it was one of the first we bought. :)
We have O Brother and LOTR, too! :)

Neo is the hero in that movie, right?
I saw it once when it was on TNT. Lost interest halfway through.

I suppose the proper thing to do would be to spam the thread with "30 Reasons I Did Not Like The Matrix." ;^)

Of course, the bad thing about the Matrix is that it REALLY messes with your mind where Agent Elrond is concerned...
Agent Smith would have shown Sauron a thing or two, no?
To: Overtaxed
Neo is the hero in that movie, right?Yup, played by Keanu Reeves.
If you fell asleep half-way through you probably missed all the best fight scenes. :)
To: RosieCotton
it REALLY messes with your mind where Agent Elrond is concernedhehe, especially when "Underhill" and "Anderson" have the same number of syllables!
"Never send a Man to do an Elf's job!"
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
hehe, especially when "Underhill" and "Anderson" have the same number of syllables!Yep! Hence my joking earlier about having Elrond say, "Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Underhill...it seems you have been leading TWO lives", etc.
Too bad they couldn't have used Matrix-like filming techniques for some of the fight scenes in FOTR, no? 'Twould be WAY cool to watch Legolas!
To: RosieCotton
'Twould be WAY cool to watch Legolas!oooh, yes... just imagine the camera angle spinning around as he runs up the chain to the cave troll's head! Or super-slow-motion views of him drawing and firing his bow... !
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; RosieCotton
Gandalf and Saruman flying at each other, staves extended. Kind of like Neo and Agent Smith in the subway jumping and shooting at each other. That was kind of cool.
Actually I think that kind of photography would have been a little overboard for LoTR.
Oohh, how about a scene where Legolas flips all the way around picks up a bow and some arrows on the way around and then starts firing them on the second time around. Like Neo did with the shotgun when they went to rescue Morpheus.

Actually I think that kind of photography would have been a little overboard for LoTR. Well, of course...but it's still really fun to speculate!
How about on Weathertop when Aragorn was fighting the wraiths?

Gandalf and Saruman flying at each other, staves extended. Let's not mix too many movie styles. I'm still traumatized over the Yoda/Saruman Smackdown in Attack of the Clownes...
To: Corin Stormhands
I have yet to see that movie. It comes out on video by the end of the year, right?
I fully expect it to be LOUSY, after the let down of Episode I (whatever the proper title is...) For someone who really liked the first three, that was a slap in the face. Hard.
To: RosieCotton
I'm sure it will be out on video/DVD before Christmas.
My 13-year-old liked it. But about 45 minutes in, I was thinking "okay, let's wrap this one up." And I really wanted it to be a good movie.
But I couldn't control my laughter when Yoda and Count Dooku (Christopher Lee/Saruman) were fighting.

Even with the precious in site, time to go it time to go...
Later folks.

BTW, have you noticed how people have turned on each other over on "that" forum?
