Plus one of my cats was in a REALLY demanding mood last night and kept yowling at me and trying to grab the bow. She was very jealous of the fiddle, I think...being held and all that.

Hehehe....my sister's cats head for the exits when she practices. My kitty actually stayed beside me while I practiced last night.

Hehehe....my sister's cats head for the exits when she practices. My kitty actually stayed beside me while I practiced last night.Mine NEVER leave me alone. Sometimes I wish they would! If I sit down to play, my dog and one of my cats usually tries to get in my lap, and one of the other two cats attacks the bow. If I stand, it's at least narrowed down to one.
And walking to another room doesn't help any...I have multiple shadows...

My cat usually follows me around and likes to curl up beside me. However, when I get into the second octave she sometimes leaves the room (c'mon kitty...it's not that bad!)

However, when I get into the second octave she sometimes leaves the room (c'mon kitty...it's not that bad!)My cats don't seem to care, but some high notes or out of tune double-stops (when you play two strings together on fiddle) really seem to bother my dog. She won't actually LEAVE (lazy bum), but she starts sighing and sometimes even breathes in sharply like I'm hurting her.
Everyone's a critic...

Everyone's a critic... Ain't that the truth! We used to have a music critic dog. He would nap under the piano when Mom was playing it and get up and leave when my sister started playing (much to the delight of me and my other siblings. Hehehehe.)
To: Overtaxed
LOL...and I'm sure you and your siblings made SURE to tease your sister about this at every opportunity! My siblings and I end up being rather brutal critics of one another when it comes to music...though we also brag to people outside the family about the more musical amongst us.
When I started learning fiddle in April after having played mandolin about a year, one of my brothers came over to visit. I practiced for a few minutes while he was listening, and he came over and said, "Don't quit your day instrument." It was a slam, but cracked me up!
To: RosieCotton
"Don't quit your day instrument." Hehehe....it'll be a while before I'm good enough to stake out a spot on the sidewalk with my tin cup.

Hehehe....it'll be a while before I'm good enough to stake out a spot on the sidewalk with my tin cup.Me too! I've performed on mando (of a sort...little benefit concerts), but it'll be a LONG while before I'm ready for that with fiddle.
Maybe by Entmoot we'll be ready? It would help offset travel costs!
(And if we AREN'T ready, maybe someone will pay us to stop playing?)

(And if we AREN'T ready, maybe someone will pay us to stop playing?) Hmmmm....wonder if Jack Benny ever thought of that angle.

Thanks for bringing a bit of high culture to our down to earth hole Sam.

Was it something I said?
(BTW, where's the stinky dwarf this a.m.?)
To: Corin Stormhands
Ah, yes, out here we normally don't think of the challenging parts coming from the people-type critters.
To: Corin Stormhands
Our Man of Gondor is missing too!
To: Overtaxed
I haven't seen the Beorning, either. What happen?
To: RosieCotton
It's those Elves! Their leaving ME started a trend.

Hullo! - Good Morning!I will be away today! - Gotta go on a road trip up the Peninsula for work!

Hope everyone has a nice day today!

Back in the early 1980s a double murder on the Appalachian Trail, put my home county on the map. They caught the guy, not a relative, but a classmate of my brother.
I never knew I lived in Appalachia until I moved away (we're right on the edge anyway).
