I think perhaps you are right concerning (many of) the rank and file, but many on the leadership level certainly do regard these things as power levers. I'd say that all those anti globalist folks + all the "greens" think of it that way.
But even if they follow the Left in their pursuit of these causes out of idealism, the totalitarian results will be the same.
I remember your crow story, but not the possum one.

I understand completely, 2Jm. Yours is much more mom-intensive schooling than ours is. My kids are most self-sustained. I give them their list of things to do and they do it on their own. My job is providing resources and discussing their reading and history assignments with them. We'll miss you, but DO pop in from time to time.

Hey, before you go, I just wanted to share something.
Just because my wife teaches at a public school doesn't mean we send our kids there. We actually send them to a private Missouri Synod sponsored Lutheran school and we have a lot of friends who homeschool so we have great respect for that. I know homeschoolers sometimes tend to feel beleaguered by all of the additional pressures associated with that choice, and I wanted to let you know you are doing a marvelous thing....Take care....
