Oh don't mind me...I just like to cause trouble every now and then. :)
I never should have seen the movie. It was Elrond's "Men are weak" comment and that stuck-up looking Haldir and his non-merry band that started me elf-bashing!

But at least elves don't double post. :)

I was thinking about it today, and I think I like the elves in the book much, MUCH better than the elves in the movie. I'm finding that the elves of the movie are getting in the way of me enjoying the elves of the book, so I kind of have to separate the two in my mind, because they are so different than the way I pictured them.

Elves aren't posting with IE5 and Windows 95 on a network run by IBM contractors. I suspect some sinister IBM plot. :)
On my honor as a hobbit, I'm pushing the "post" button once. When I get a "page cannot be displayed" error a double post happens.

Yeah, I uninstalled it after I got what I wanted. Did a virus scan and checked Add/Remove Programs as well.

You may want to check the link in the article at CNet, it looks like you have to do a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff to actually get rid of all of the "Brilliant" piggy-back software...
Gah, what a mess...I guess now I know why the software is free.

I was thinking about it today, and I think I like the elves in the book much, MUCH better than the elves in the movie. Definitely! The Elves in the book laugh more and seem genuinely concerned about the poor mortal folk being left behind in ME. In the book, Haldir and company are not snooty at all!

I'll wait 'til I get home to do any more posts!

I can see your point. The elves in the book seem to be a lot more lighthearted. THen again, we also see a lot more of hte elves in the book. I.e. after the sighting of the dark riders, the hobbits meet up with a company of them. Just to name one. I'd have to reread to remember all of them, but I do have a different picture of them when I read, than what the movie portrays.

Thanks for the heads up... I uninstalled it too when I was done, but thanks for the tips on getting rid of the residual stuff... Going to look/clean now.

I have gotten ahold of an avi file of the preview that purports to clean up the flickering improve the quality of the other one that's floating around the net. I'll let you guys know if it's worth having. I sure hope they post it on the OS when the movie is gone, it would be so nice to have a high-res, high quality Quicktime version Penny1, what is "OS"? and WHERE are you getting these downloads!!?
To: LinnieBeth
"OS" = Official Site. There are.... places where you can find the trailer. Such as http://209.115.2.112/L2T.mov - sometimes, I'm not sure if it's here anymore and even if it is there the site is cranky.

I'm not Penny, but I believe OS =
Official Site.
The Two Towers preview (and other assorted goodies) can be downloaded on my personal trailer page.

Is your copy the flickering one I have, or do you have this other improved one Penny spoke of? - Penny was it improved?
To: Penny1
How are they that different in the film than the books? - You speaking of Haldir? The Lothlorien elves were snotty in the book too - the thing with the blindfolds and such...
And with the exception of Galadriel's Halloween moment, which I think is overblown, the other elves seem just like the book to me, and Legolas certainly makes up for flaws of the others, don't you think? What to you mean?
