Gordian Blade posted a DVD review over at the Hobbit Hole y'all can check outActually Gordon posted the thread, but hadn't added it to the HH, I did that.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Oh - Thanks! - Actually we are talkin' about too many Hobbit Holes... He posted it yesterday over in the Yahoo Hobbit place. I told him to post it here too, since not everyone checks in at the Yahoo site frequently!
We have the Hobbit Hole topic, The Hobbit Hole thread and the Yahoo Hobbit Hole. hehehehe

Most of it was filmed in Giles County, VA. The resort is there at Mountain Lake. Some was filmed in North Carolina, and it's all supposed to look like the Catskills! I lived in the foothills of the Catskills, and was in a regional choral performance in the vicinity of the Catskill resorts while I was in high school, which is the time that the original dirty dancing was invented. They had a party for us during the rehersals, and the local kids 'dirty' danced. It was an eye-opener for us out-of-towners, as you can well imagine (late 1950's you know).

I'm deeply touched by your compassion and concern... (blush!) Awww, 'tweren't nuthin'!

Hello everyone.
So you don't wear a lab coat at work, Overtaxed?
I'm a jeans and T shirt person also, though I usually put on a golf type shirt when going out. Us older folks have to maintain a certain dignity ;-)
Can't think of that many movies that I really really like.
I thought Gremlins 2 was pretty good. Watched Key Largo recently, they did a poor job on the hurricane, real ones are deafening. But it was great seeing Bogart, Bacall and Robinson all together in one film.
Is that where Rocko gets his name from?

Actually I was mistaken, I read the Hobbit Hole review, but the thread that I added to the Hobbit Hole topic was 'Elvish Lives!', posted by sorcery, which is basically about the history of the writing and publishing of LOTR, even including the controversy with the non-authorized Ace paperback. Gordian Blade has posted his review now.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Oh - I haven't seen that Elvish thread... will go look!
To: Sam Cree
Is that where Rocko gets his name from? No, it's from the cartoon Rocko's Modern Life. I'm a wallaby.

Good evening!
it was great seeing Bogart, Bacall and Robinson all together in one film.
Have you seen The Big Sleep, also starring Bogart and Bacall? That's another classic movie that I enjoy.

Hi! I'm alive! Very busy, as everyone is. Should I catch up on the hundreds of posts I missed? Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, huh?

Hi! I just go the boys bathed. We went to the park. Josh and I strolled while Steve and Matthew rode their bikes. It's a pleasant warm but not hot evening and very nice. We saw an Armadilla!

Good evening!
Should I catch up on the hundreds of posts I missed?
I would recommend it, yes. There will be a test later.

They just quoted me on Radio FreeRepublic.... [smug]

Hi!
We saw an Armadilla!
I didn't know they ranged that far north. It wasn't squashed, was it?
To: HairOfTheDog
Congratulations! What was the quote?

I'm still hundreds behind, after my 5 day trip to Atlanta put me
1000 behind. Thought I'd catch up by now, but the thread is tearing along at such a clip that I can barely keep up, much less catch up.
Though I did finish Otherland, which I enjoyed very much, thank you. It's much much better than his previous effort green angel tower or whatever it was. One good thing about Otherland was that it kept you occupied for awhile!
Orlando and Sam are still my favorite characters. I kind of liked !Xabbu, but wasn't sure why he kept hanging around Renie. Kind of liked Avielle, sorry she was dead.

What? A Spanish Armadilla? Or a lady Armadillo? Or a weird car?

Read my post from the FLAME WAR LIVE thread:
To: Luis Gonzalez
Listening, I am one of the ones that doesn't want to call in. I am not part of the problem. I don't flame, I don't enjoy being a part of it. But I have been a spectator.
I think part of the problem is that far too many people come here for the express purpose of looking for a fight. They want a hot debate, not agreement, the fighting is the entertainment. The hotter it gets the more they like it.
But the flaming and rudeness kills any interest in your view, and repels people who may have been convinced. The audience is merely watching the dogs fight, not learning which stance makes more sense.
The trouble is, when only conservatives are here in the first place, there is no one here who is not basically on the same team (with a few differences) So those folk, in order to get their fight instinct satisfied, end up picking each other apart instead of the Dems.
The anonymity and the distance of the internet make people behave far worse than their mothers taught them to behave.

Oh, you finished Otherland! Yay! Glad you liked it. Did the third book leave you hanging? !Xabbu and Renee both annoyed me; Orlando and Sam are my favorites, too. Sam's especially cool, I like her. Kind of reminds me of me, in some ways, except I don't pretend to be male and I don't have any friends with fatal diseases.
