Hullo Jen! - Causing less trouble than you! And I have been drinking! Bwah!
Palo just posted this in the DD thread and pinged me... talks about NorthWesterners
You might be from the Northwest if you:
* Feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash.
* Use the expression ''sun break'' and know what it means.
* Know more people who own boats than air conditioners.
* Feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.
* Stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the ''Walk'' signal.
* Consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it's not a real mountain.
* Know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon.
* Know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Issaquah, Oregon, and Willamette.
* Consider swimming an indoor sport.
* Can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese, and Thai food.
* In winter, go to work in the dark and come home in the dark -- while only working eight-hour days.
* Never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.
* Are not fazed by ''Today's forecast: showers followed by rain, and Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers.''
* You can't wait for a day with ''showers and sun breaks.''
* Have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
* Know that Boring is a town in Oregon and not just a state of mind.
* Can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you can't see through the cloud cover.
* Say, ''The mountain is out'' when it's a pretty day and you can actually see it.
* Put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 50, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
* Switch to your sandals when it gets above 60, but keep the socks on.
* Have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.
* Think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.
* Knew immediately that the view out ''Frasier's'' window was fake.
* Buy new sunglasses every year, because you can't find the old ones after such a long time.
* Switch from ''heat'' to ''a/c'' in the same day.
* You use a down comforter in the summer.
* Your grandparents drive 65 mph through 2 feet of water during raging rainstorm without flinching.
* Design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.
* Know that driving is better in the winter because almost everybody stays home.
* Think sexy lingerie is tube socks and flannel pajamas.

LCS focuses on the business at hand most of the time, and I think he is bored with us and recruiting new members! Nope, I've just been out of circulation so long that I figure that if there are more newcomers, people will explain what is going on to them, and I will be able to catch on to what has been happenning here!

(just kidding, Corin and any other evil Arminians out there ;-)Doing fine here, JenB, I forget, are us Papists Arminians, or are we completely beyond the pale. (Nice expression, that, the 'Pale' was that part of Ireland in the vicinity of Dublin, and under Norman English control, 'beyond the "Pale"' were the 'wild' Irish, not in fact subject to the King of England.)
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
I am a Lutheran.... And I don't have any idea whether I am an Armenian or not.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
No, I understand that you Papists sowed the Arminian heresy as a way of getting back at us for the Reformation. You're actually probably worse ;-)
Hmm, if you're declaring yourself Irish there, I might as well take joy in my few Scottish ancestors - after all, they were probably good Calvinists themselves! Does that mean I can paint myself blue, wear a kilt, and drink pints til weird hours of the morning, then running around yelling "FREEDOM!"?

Yippee!! Hey everybody, I just heard an ad from Kia automobiles. It says that everybody who tests drives a Kia gets a free LOTR DVD!! Everyone start your engines!! (You don't have to buy one, and they are cheap, too!!)
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
So are you going on a test drive tonight?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Do they let 19 yr olds test drive new Kias?

Hmm, if you're declaring yourself Irish there, I might as well take joy in my few Scottish ancestors I'm a quarter Irish, and you may remember that the Scots migrated from Ireland (known to the Romans as Scotia), around the turn of the millennium. So hello there, cousin!!

I just heard an ad from Kia automobilesYes! Rose saw that commercial, and it's very funny! It features a couple test-driving a Kia, being chased by four riders on horseback (ala the Black Riders). When the Riders catch up to the car, the woman rolls down the window, and the lead Rider pulls off his headpiece and offers them a copy of the FOTR DVD... we cracked up!

A little late in the East for car hunting tonight. As for 19 year olds, I guess that is up to the salesman and the dealer.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
True, true. But I am mostly English so you may want to shun me for the oppression of your potato-eating brethern years ago, huh?
I hope no one here is French....

Yes! Rose saw that commercial, and it's very funny! Watching 'Law and Order, Special Victim's Unit', by any chance?
To: JenB
you may want to shun meUs potato eaters refer to this as 'boycotting' someone, not shunning them (that is for the Pennsylvania Dutch, I think)
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Why no, actually we're watching pre-season football on a local channel... Dallas Cowboys vs. Oakland Raiders.
We're ready for some football!
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Yes, that's right - you are good at boycotting and occasionally building railroads and mines, not producing new things and conquering places with funny food like us Anglo-Saxon sorts.
