You are saner than everyone else here! That shouldn't be too hard! :)

You can send some of that rain this way.

Well, it's just that the rest of us have already snapped!
Looks like I am coming to late to see anything over on the baseball thread... everything is already deleted... trying to get caught up!

It is nice to see that this guy didn't save this stuff for us Hobbits. This time a pretty good sample of FR was exposed to it. I found it interesting that a couple of his colleagues were upset with his behavior. I'll give this guy and his associate credit for a Luciferian arrogance, and unwillingness to concede at any point.

I am having a nice afternoon... listening to hobbity soundtrack, watching conservatives try to talk about Ann Landers dying on Free Republic, watching transexual men who are prettier than me on MSNBC, and other odd activities.... Life is a carnival of sights to see. How is your day going?

'How is your day going?'
I have been watching an interesting and ironic movie on The History Channel 'Fat Man and Little Boy', starring Paul Newman as General Groves, and the actor who played Barkeley on Star Trek TNG playing Oppenheimer. The movie takes the usual slant, but the irony is having the lefty Newman playing the conservative general, while the leftwing Oppenheimer is played by an actor who I have heard is one of the few Hollywood conservatives (probably why I haven't seen him since).

I think I saw that film...
Actually Paul Newman starred in one of my favorite weekend movies... The Long Hot Summer...
Have you seen that? - also starred Orsen Welles. It was redone later with Don Johnson, but the original was better.

Yes, a wonderful cast, including Angela Lansbury, Joanne Woodward, Tony Franciosa, and the lovely Lee Remick. I think that Faulkner had something to do with it, either he wrote the original story, or the screenplay IMO. Today they like to pretend that nobody thought about sex in the 1950's, but that was a sexy movie, without being lewd.

That's right!
Miss Clara, you slam the door in a man's face before he even knocks on it!

Newman learned how to leer in this movie, then used it as virtually his only expression in Hud.

"and the lovely Lee Remick"
Haven't heard that name in awhile. She was pretty, though. I bet not everyone on this thread remembers seeing her in the movies. I also remember her in Experiment in Terror, the guy causing the terror later starred in Wild, Wild West with Robert Conrad.

When I'm upset, going to Borders and looking at all the books is one of the ways I try to calm myself down. It's usually pretty successful.

Her early movie I remember best was Anatomy of a Murder with Jimmy Stewart, George C. Scott, Ben Gazarra, and Orson Bean in a small part. They really knew how to make movies in those days.

They really knew how to make movies in those days. Yeah, and the walk to school was longer, it snowed more, and it was up hill both directions!
Methinks they may some pretty fair movies now....

(I like some of the old classics too...)

Yes, there were some good ones, in black and white, too.
Went with the family this afternoon to see Attack of the Clones. I didn't think it was very good, even found it somewhat boring. I admit that it was visually stunning, though, I really enjoyed the special effects and special effect scenery, machinery, etc.
That scene where the lovers are frolicking near some waterfalls was a little ridiculous. They looked like Niagara, but sounded like a small drinking fountain. My neighbors fake waterfall in his little swimming pool makes more noise than they did.
But I admit to laughing at Jango Fett's "six gun" scene. Also admit to having had a nice time and to enjoying the movie, even if it wasn't so good.

Lee Remick would have made a wonderful Galadriel, although Kate Blanchett was fine. Remick was beautiful, and could be both regal and sensual.
To: Sam Cree
I haven't seen it... I will watch when it is on Pay per view... or cable.. hehehe
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, I don't know, somehow it just didn't arouse much emotion or interest in me.
That makes 6 movies I've seen in less than a year. 'Course 5 of them were FOTR.

Our friends are still going on the Baseball thread. There is a succinct commentary on them at post #318.

Hullo, friends. Thanks for the nice support. I feel much better now, being done with work for a whole day! Tomorrow is mine to do with as I please, after church. I am taking my other sister to see Minority Report - the younger one is not allowed to see it, Dad said it was too mature for her. He also said it's the best movie he's seen in years, so I'm excited.
OT, guess what I had for dinner?
