Do not be distraught, and do not worry. God is watching over this nation, and nothing unfolding today is outside His providence.
Like many of you, I watched the polls and the media spin leading into this week predicting a blue wave. But we must remember the fundamental reality: Donald J. Trump was not on that ballot. Midterm dynamics are an entirely different animal, and the knee-jerk panic on our side is completely unwarranted.
When you look at American history with a cool head and an understanding of executive power, a hostile Congress has often been the exact crucible that turns a strong leader into a legendary one. In our own lifetimes, four presidents—Truman, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Clinton—achieved some of their most sweeping, enduring triumphs while facing an opposition-controlled Capitol Hill.
In temperament and governing instinct, Trump has always shared a kinship with Harry Truman: a blunt, plain-spoken brawler who bypassed the polite, useless chattering class to fight for the common man. Truman faced the hostile 80th Congress, took his case straight to the American people, and forged a legacy that history still reveres.
Capital Hill has flipped but it doesn't tie Trump's hands—it frees them. Here is why this outcome could actually make him a far more lethal and impactful president:
1. Eliminating Intra-Party Friction
When a president holds paper-thin majorities within his own party, he burns endless political capital begging moderate holdouts, squishes, and self-serving backbenchers to stay in line. The infighting is exhausting, demoralizing, and produces watered-down compromises.
When Congress flips to the opposition, that internal burden evaporates overnight. The scrimmage line becomes clear, clean, and external: the White House versus Capitol Hill.
2. The Power of the Negative (The Veto Pen)
Without a compliant legislature, the President’s primary domestic weapon becomes the veto. Overriding a presidential veto requires a strict two-thirds supermajority in both chambers—a threshold the Democrats cannot touch.
That leaves the opposition with two choices: either craft common-sense, bipartisan bills moderate enough to earn his signature, or waste their time passing hollow messaging bills that will die a swift death at the Resolute Desk. The gridlock stops their radical agenda cold.
3. The Forced Pivot to Pure Executive Action & Foreign Policy
Historically, when a president is boxed in domestically, his focus shifts to the domains where executive authority is absolute and unchallengeable:
Trade and Tariffs: The executive branch retains broad, unilateral statutory power over tariffs, supply chains, and national security trade actions—requiring zero congressional approval.
Geopolitics and Defense: Free from haggling over bloated domestic spending packages, a commander-in-chief directs his personal energy toward international diplomacy, energy dominance, and border defense, where presidential discretion reigns supreme.
Deregulation: Real dismantling of the administrative state happens through executive orders, agency oversight, and cutting the bureaucratic red tape that strangles American business.
4. The Truman Model vs. The Triangulation Precedent
An executive with an opposition Congress holds all the cards. If they want to govern, they must come to him—much like Newt Gingrich’s Congress was forced to deal with the White House on welfare reform and balanced budgets in 1996.
If instead they choose endless oversight, political theatrics, and partisan investigations, it will backfire spectacularly. It allows Trump to do what he does better than anyone in history: campaign against a "do-nothing," obstructionist Congres
The Bottom Line my friends is this:
Legislative business-as-usual in Washington may pause, but the real levers of executive power do not. A hostile Congress forces an administration into a leaner, sharper, purely executive posture—relying on the veto, trade leverage, foreign affairs, and administrative directives.
It strips away the legislative noise and sets the stage for an undeniable legacy.
Stand fast. Keep the faith. Our best years are still ahead of us.

Thank you very much and God bless you,

Thanks, that’s a very helpful post.
“on target”. Thank You.
A helpful post, and I hope you’re right.
I still never thought I’d see the American people vote for communists and jihadists.
Thank you 🙏
He ran on America First and betrayed it.
Historically, when a president is boxed in domestically, his focus shifts to the domains where executive authority is absolute and unchallengeable ... Geopolitics and Defense
IOW, Trump will ramp up his betrayal of America First. He will try prove what a Big Boy he is by picking fights with foreign nations.
Same as Bush.
Whistling past the graveyard? Sorry, I don’t buy it. That line from Aliens, when the dropship leaves the Sulaco and Hudson yells out “we’re on an express elevator to Hell.”
There is precious little time for Congress to get anything accomplished. Look for a Christmas shutdown when the current CR expires on 12/11. The RATs will hold out until they take control of Congress in January. Then it will be hearings and Impeachment 24/7.
I didn’t read your post. Just not in the mood, too depressed now... But it’s the end of MAGA and you know it.
Those are nice sentiments and in the past that you referenced it would work that way but we’ve got a Democrat party that wants to destroy our president, his supporters and our country.
Of course God is watching over this nation. He is JUDGING it.
We will not repent,so He is going to make us serve foreigners as they deplete our treasury. Our young men will be eaten by the sword. The elderly will be treated like dog shit. You will be taxed through the roof. Justice will be nonexistent. Sin will abound.
And the worst of it is, Americans will lose the ability to reason. Even more than it has: 40% actually voted for that stupid harlot Kamala Harris.
But I hope the new superbug spreading amongst the gay community burns like an out of control wildfire and stacks bodies at a rate where crematoriums have to run 24/7.
I think Democrats are going to push to pack the Supreme Court, add two states and grant citizenship to illegal aliens while impeaching Trump and investigations into every aspect of Trump’s life.I don’t think they will abide by the constitution or laws of America.
It isn't a “pendulum”. It is a boulder crashing down on the glass case that holds the Constitution in the National Archives .
You have been warned.
America is lost.
Like amnesty???
> But it’s the end of MAGA and you know it. <
That would be the way to bet. Today’s Democrats are not your grandfather’s Democrats. Today’s Democrats are dedicated radicals. They are organizing for fundamental change. It’s not 1955 anymore.
Trump and the congressional Republicans let whatever advantage they had slip away.

Trump could still chair the very first Convention Of States. That would make him as great as George Washington who chaired for the original convention.
bump
Quoting Luke 21:26–28: that while the world faints with fear and foreboding over the political winds, the faithful are instructed not to despair, but to lift up their heads.
The dems will definitely go for impeachment 3.0, especially now that they have a majority in the senate as well. Although they won't get enough votes to actually remove Trump, they will get a majority vote in the senate to do so, and that will give the media a talking point to focus on leading into 2028.
He will veto anything that resembles amnesty.
I fail to agree with the fear and foreboding drizzled in this thread. Trump was not on the ballot. Plain and simple. He has spent much energy trying to get his own party in line with him. The gloves are off. He won’t have to spend any more time with them. Rubio has seen this before. Don’t underestimate Trump. He will become the greatest president of all time, The Age of Pericles is still among us. The best years of our lives is ahead. Sorry, but that’s how I feel about it.
