First, kill all of the lawyers. This is ambulance chaser stuff.
Yeah! People should be allowed to jack their vehicles up as high as they want, and if they cross the center line and chop off the top of the car they are crashing into, too bad. They should have thought of that before they started driving and jacked their vehicle up too.
The people who raise their vehicles should be responsible. I don’t think the lift kit manufacturers should have to bear the burden but if the insurance company is responsible for paying a claim they have a right to limit their liability based on modifications to the vehicle. Cars and trucks should have bumpers at nearly the same level if they are driving on a public roadway. In my opinion, people who drive “monster trucks” are inconsiderate and rude. They sit way up high and shine their bright lights straight into the car in front of them. It is not pleasant to look in the rear view mirror and see the front bumper and the grill of a pickup truck in the mirror. Their ability to drive off road is not something I want to pay for.
I dunno... Some of these vehicles have no business using public roads.
Jack up your truck to the moon, for all I care. Doesn't mean your vehicle should be licensed and permitted on the roads, just as many highly modified vehicles are restricted to private roads only.
Plenty of stupid car fads that need to be taken off the roads.
In Houston, these are called "swangas."
