NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Christa Pike has begun walking and eating again at a hospital a week after surviving Tennessee's attempt to execute her with lethal drugs, her attorneys said Thursday.

Tennessee Assistant Attorney General John W. Ayers, left, presents arguments during a court hearing, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, in Nashville, Tenn., as attorneys for Christa Pike request the Tennessee Department of Corrections to preserve all evidence related to her failed execution.

Pike, 50, survived two doses of pentobarbital as the state sought to giver her a lethal injection eight days ago for the 1995 beating and stabbing death of classmate Colleen Slemmer. The drug didn't kill her, and her arms were left burned and blistered, according to her lawyers. For the first few days of her hospitalization, Pike was unconscious and on a ventilator.

Her first steps on Wednesday were "limited" and she required some assistance as she walked on Thursday, her lawyers said in a statement. She is also regaining mobility in her arms, and she was able to eat for the first time.

But the lawyers warned uncertainty remains about her physical recovery and her legal standing after the attempt to carry out her death sentence.

“...And you might not want to believe this but it’s coming....her lawyer’s are going to argue she should now be set free...”

I’m sure she’s already being set up for a lifetime of lucrative lecture tours as a “prisoner rights advocate” across college campuses. Should nicely top-up whatever the incoming financial settlement doesn’t cover.

She and her outhouse shyster lawyers will now be suing the State of Tennessee for not killing her. She “suffered” a lot. Not as much as her victim but criminals should not have to suffer in the far-left’s new Amerika where criminals are the new heroes.

“They could say the state performed the execution so her sentence has been completed.”

Yep that’s exactly what I meant.

I know enough about defense lawyers to know they can make some demands that may sound outrageous to the rest of us but they do it anyway.

William Shakespeare was right about those jagoffs all along.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this goes to the state supreme court if not the SCOTUS.

Let Tennessee spend years on expensive medical rehab for this murderer so she can be “ready” to be put to death for real. They were only “kidding around” the first time.

Tennessee needs firing squad...100% effective according to recent reports. There has never been a failure.

William Shakespeare was right about those jagoffs all along

People like to quote the line from Henry VI "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" as though it represents Williams Shakespeare's view of the law, or that Shakespeare is on the side of popular insurgency. In fact, like many of Shakespeare's plays, Henry VI - particularly the portrayal of Jack Cade and his rabble of followers, such as the butcher who speaks the famous line - in order to show what happens when rabble-rousers and their followers challenge the order of monarchy and rule of law. You see the same themes in Julius Caesar, Henry IV, Coriolanusm and many others.

Criminal defense attorneys in the Pike case and others are just doing their jobs. The problem is that prosecuting attorneys and judges are not doing theirs - it's liberal prosecutors who are letting criminals run amok, not to mention elected officials who allow fads and emotions to take priority over the law. The law says that Christa Pike needs to be executed - the governor, and apparently various judges and DAs, seem to disagree.

Oh really? You including Kevin reddington in that? because I sure don’t.

In my state that jackasses law license could very well be in jeopardy.

Great. Sounds likes she’s competent to be executed properly.

There was a failure. Wenceslao Moguel. But that can be avoided with more bullets.
