Today he would be a serious lawsuit and do jail time.
How is this possibly child abuse?
Mr. Barely 7th grade history, Sam kinnesson type teacher and Vietnam vet. Fall asleep in class he’d jump up on your desk and some things still got you called to the board of education back then and goodness help you if it was him delivering the message in the hall.
Probably more of a hate crime. /s
The headline should be a Florida sheriff arrested a science teacher with 29 years service in the public school system, for instilling discipline in her classroom.
Shall we guess the race of the student... Was he a teen?
Fifth Grade Science teacher Mr. Paul would pick you up by the hair,
Seventh grade English teacher Mr. Kelly (private prep school) gave noogies.
We lived.
Happened to me in 1st grade. Can’t recall what I did. Teacher grabbed me by the arm, but she had long fingernails and she squeezed so hard, her fingernails pierced into the flesh of my arm, drawing blood. Nobody was concerned or got into trouble. How I hated her for that.
My 4th grade, the teacher so obviously hated the boys that a delegation of the girls went to the principles office to complain. She did not show up again after the next weekend.
Same here. Our science teacher, in 7th grade, circa 1962, Mr. Chang, took no nonsense from anyone often slamming disruptive kids against the classroom wall. And if that didn't do the trick, he'd send you to the vice principals office, a man who'd fought hand to hand combat at Iwo Jima in WWII.
Is she a US citizen?
The student was probably acting up and distracting others from learning. Even if this teacher of 29 long, hard years in the classroom is cleared of charges, she would be better off either retiring completely, or at very least, retiring and hiring her self out as a substitute in a different school district.
It is now clear that her present school administration is not going to support her in any real way.
That bond of employer-employee trust has been forever broken!
Most likely another child of Obeyme.

The term discipline creates an appearance of punishment. This was not punishment, it was correcting a misbehaving student.
Middle school teacher have a history of being violently attacked in many schools throughout the nation.
Here are three:
• Independence Middle School Attack: A teacher at Independence Middle School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was hospitalized following a physical assault by students inside a classroom.
• Alderwood Middle School Incident: A staff member at Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood, Washington, suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a student, leading to an arrest and emergency expulsion.
• Dimmitt Middle School Assault: A 12-year-old student attacked teacher Stephanie Hartung at Dimmitt Middle School in Renton, Washington, prompting regional investigations into school safety and student accountability.
There is also a history of gun violence in schools all over the country from students that match up with the same issues. I’m for forcing the child, if found to have lied, to be expelled and forced to remedial education with other students like him and under a more controlled atmosphere.

I imagine this student has a very long disciplinary record. Which no doubt does not include any actual discipline. So I can understand the teacher being at the end of his rope. Unfortunately the fact he was physical with the student can be classified as assault. Not sure if that automatically means a child abuse charge when a minor is involved but would not be surprised.
It would be great if the school stuck up for the teacher, but they won’t.
How is that pertinent to the article?
Dragged by the arm, oh the horror!
Should have been around when I was in 7th grade. I was picked up by the back of my collar and brutally taken all the way to the office to talk to the principle. Yeah, I pissed off my math teacher and I was the only one who was in any trouble. Times have changed, and changed for the worse.
Whatever happened to reform schools?
I was taken by my heels and dragged down the floor of the hall all the way to Sister Superior’s office. Sister Superior was shocked my classroom teacher did that to me. I was not paying enough attention in class which was a bad reflection of her skill as a teacher.
Let me guess, Sister Uma?
