You been here nine years, I been here for 26.
An honest question — what would the admins need to do to revitalize the site and recruit more members? Get the site itself more in line with 2026 technology so that it attracts more (younger) people or makes more people want to stay? If it is a content issue — well, FR pretty much is limited to what content its members post. I have noticed busy days and slow days.
As far as my joining the site is concerned, and this might be common for a lot of people — I found FR by accident. In 2004 when I googled something about G.W. Bush, among the hits was one of the “Day in the Life of the Bush Family” posts. I had no previous awareness of FR. How do we make people aware so they can join and participate?
Once again, you know nothing.
The site is worth much more. I gave 500 3 days ago , Fox News has 4 billion in ad revenue per year.

Y'all don't forget to drop a little in the kitty to FR. Maybe a dollar a day.
I would encourage more input, even bloggers, to participate. All information is valuable. Let bloggers post there points of view and allow them to post their link to their site. So what if it drives clicks to their site, let it happen.
Won’t work. The admins delete posts for no reason and don’t respond when queried. They deleted two of mine. One I mistyped a title and asked them nicely to fix it. They deleted it entirely and refused to respond when asked why. The second one was similar. Both were appropriate to the site. No question.
I stopped reading for a while and now will never post an original article again. Twice burned. I’m done. I don’t know what floats their boat, but this site has CHANGED.
So, if we do not get to the K $81000, will this place still exist?
He’s kind of right. It has always struck me as odd. I run a small IT business and do manage a few online forums. For 1M daily users on an imageboard, which is way more expensive to run than a mostly text board like FR, we charge ~15K/mo on the upper end to cover bandwidth and storage. I would peg FR in the ~2500-3500/mo range for infrastructure/management. Even after legal and accounting this seems to be a very healthy operations when it comes to profitability, that is until California gets their fair share. I wonder why they never formed an LLC in a place like Florida.
No one has been “ripped off.”
But tough times have resulted in fewer posters having the time to go find articles and post them.
The best way to help revitalize the site is to go out and find news to post about. Try searching for news about various countries and post what could be relevant to economic or national security.
Write an article about a historical event that you have an interest in.
Find or write articles to post on science or engineering and get a discussion going.

Hardware and power will not consume that kinda money even on .gov standards. An SSD RAID-10 running a VM RAID 10 cluster on 10GBps should suffice for 20K active users.

I always got DoD handmedowns on my coalition networks (MCFI, GCTF, and the CPNs). You have to make them work. Ex.: a NIPR SAN life cycles out of service. End Of Life. It cannot be used any more per Regulation. They trash the whole 96 disk SAN, chassis and all. Prior to degaussing the disks I (or anyone else with a valid requirement) go in and cannibalize the whole thing for use on Coalition Secret networks. As it’s a classification upgrade it’s permitted w/o degaussing. Voila. A new, used SAN with maybe 3 bad disks. That leaves me with a spare SAN chassis and 93 hard drives. Plenty of spares for my networks.
With SSDs the life cycles get pushed way out. My personal box is a 2012 Asus Sabertooth X58 using Crucial SSDs. Two are on the 6GBps channels from the board’s Marvel extension card.
Well, I’m retired now. This is post is merely an afterglow from my mind.
That is what I am Talking about. Admins seem to have their own agenda, they seem to be most interested in Sunday morning talk thread that always appears in breaking news.

You are FOS, you know damn well FR was on a sunday afternoon 50 post in 3 minutes or less. You have been here long enough to know that, Anything less is just a lie.
It means less people are frequenting FR. People are not coming here to read and comment like they use to. Readership is way down, no readership, no comments.
Which proves what?
Why do you think donations are so far down, people are not coming here, this place is dying, admin needs to try and save it.
