A little chocolate shop opened in Rockland, ME a year or so ago. In the window were various pro-gay and anti-conservative/Trump signs. These eventually came down but the shop closed this week. Guess they are going to try on line only.

Why would a retail shop actively try to alienate half of their potential customer base? (Because they are nuts.)

I think these people actually believe that the majority of Americans agree with them.
The lib bubble they live in is where they get all their news an opinions.
I've heard ex-libs on the YouTubes say it.
