There is nothing in the constitution about a White House Press Office or presidents having press conferences. That is a custom that arose in the 20th century for reasons that really no longer apply. The president does not need the press to get his message out.

The Press Office and the whole business of regular press conferences should be eliminated and never mind picking and choosing which outlets get privileges. The press will still be free to write what the please.
