I saw that happen. The OP realized that there was already a thread to the same topic of interest. But still there were conversations and sentiments being also shared in this second post too and it is rude to just shut it off like that. Doesn't anyone know how to just "forward" any new comments to the older thread? It is not rocket science and only take minimal effort... I can teach you how... That way those conversations are not lost to the wind...
Does anyone care about the members here and have customer appreciation? Or is the arrogance so great that we should feel lucky you even allow us to participate here? If it is the later you are wrong and that is a mistaken perspective. That arrogance will be the downfall of this domain in the end.
That is where it all began. I always look at these old threads and see the names of the posters and wonder where they all went.

I get the irritation. Ah. I feel sympathy if someone did a check, didn’t get a hit, and started their own thread. Don’t much care for search.
I both have an occasional issue with the moderation methods used, but at the same time, recognizing the difficulty of the moderator job, and...I try to just let it go and not be irritable. I just go the the surviving thread and post my response if it is worth it to do so.
Sometimes it isn’t. And I just shrug and move on.
And like you, Leaning Right, I prefer the no-frills approach. It is easy, but I DO wish search worked better.
Seriously though, Ransomnote has withstood all slings and arrows for being Free Republic's primary QAnon "Trust Trump's Plan" voice but time has shown she (or he) has been right far more often than wrong. With years yet to go for this administration it's withstood concerted attacks like no other in America's history.
Our 80-year old President Trump, despite his egotism and bombastic style, definitely retains situational awareness and eye on the big picture. I'm only disappointed that he felt it necessary to stoop to vote-buying ($5,000 refund) in his latest speeches. That and not hammering the Iranian fanatics the first time they refused to deal.
Leave that crap to the Democrats and stay on the high road. They set the bar so low that's not too much to ask.

Yes it does. This place might have began as a place to support Conservatism, but then it became a business as a priority. Which made members “Customers”. Please do not try to deny this fact. I was reading the FR many years before I actually joined. All the bullshitting over the years. 80k a quarter to “keep the lights on”? Maybe back in the 90s, but not now. It is absolutely not “For the cause of conservatism” as a priority. The membership was allowed to assume and allowed to think it was self hosted on FR servers for two years before I shared that it was now on 3rd party shared hosting in the cloud. And on a liberal leftist cloud server host own by a company in the UK that also serves China to boot.
I paid $360 for premium hosting for my forum and that was for three years, and it will handle the traffic the FR traffic would throw at it no problem.
Is it time to come clean and be transparent and honest about the truth here or we going to keep hiding and gaslighting everyone? It is not hard to search down and find, every tech on here has done this and knows the true facts based on public information available. See here is the problem. I am also in the business and know the costs and the realities. This is what I am trying to share. We conservative outlets need to support each other or we are going to lose against the Democrats. It needs to go back to a priority of Cause for all conservative domains or we are all going to die off and it will be gone...
And it begins with customer appreciation, respect, courtesy, and transparency... THEN you will get the financial support you are asking for even as a business.

Probably the same Mod who deleted a longtime and very well-liked FReeper’s general chat thread that was having some fun with A.I. the other day. I heard the Mod’s reason listed for deleting the thread was some insulting, snarky reason like “self-centered nonsense” (I’m pretty sure I’m paraphrasing; I only hear about it and didn’t see it.)
This is why the crowds posting here keep getting smaller and smaller.
I fear that Mod may have run off yet another longtime, valuable FReeper.

Answer: I have built and owned my own forums for fifteen years now and I do know exactly what it entails to own and moderate a community like this. Overzealous moderation is the #1 killer of a community platform...
