STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Texas Medical Board revoked the license of an orthopedic surgeon after he is accused of prescribing an "abortive" to a patient he had an "inappropriate sexual relationship with," according to an official notice.
The Texas Medical Board issued the revocation of William Evans license on Friday, Sept. 4. He prescribed the "abortive" medication in December 2023 in violation of the Texas abortion ban, the document states.
A violation of the Texas Health and Safety rule stipulates that a license holder will have their license revoked. The document states the ruling by the Texas Medical Board is final, but Evans could appeal the decision within 30 days of the revocation.
Evans was licensed for 27 years in Texas and operated Cross Timbers Orthopaedics in Stephenville. The Dallas Morning News first reported the move by Texas Medical Board. WFAA has reached out to the business with a request for comment.
The company's website states the "office of William Evans has closed effective immediately," and the business is working to contact patients about the closure.
A biography for Evans, who also goes by the nickname Bill, is still live on the website. Evans went to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, and got his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M.

Good lord! We are a depraved society
Is he not aware that every prescription written is reviewed? Probably first by AI looking for deviations from normal. Then by insurance. Believe me, anything odd will be flagged. A doctor prescribing something that’s illegal and outside his normal routine prescriptions is going to raise flags, sendoff rockets and blow horns.
My GP said as much when I asked for Retin-A, which would normally not be in his formulary of acceptable prescriptions. But the risk was minimal, so he did it. Although, he would not diagnose a skin condition as “I’m not a dermatologist.”
Doctors around here are hyper specialized. There’s a surgeon at Shands who treats only brain aneurisms. Nothing else. The local orthopedic surgeons apparently only do one type of surgery each. Imagine a thirty-year career as a proctologist. Not that I’m demeaning proctologists...but, DAMN!
A good proctologist is worth his/her weight in gold.
Was she worth it? Probably not. God’s way of doing things is always the best way.

I’m working on my second new knee. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that the guy doing it could do it in his sleep. My fear is he’ll nod off from boredom. But imagine the poor gynecologist who comes home to find his wife holding out champagne while wearing a see-through negligee. “Oh, God! If I see one more of those I’ll throw up.”
