Not sure how that tracks with the movie as I think about it...simply because Dr. Martin doesn’t eventually believe the Demon or see the logic behind the “new world order” but is frightened enough from his appearance as a criminal who might someday be set free to “stand at the foot of his bed” that he signs the order that authorizes the execution.

I didn’t think the summary was quite right, I don’t think he sees the logic in the Demon’s arguments.
