The sort of childhood and upbringing she had will almost always produce negative consequences - an unstable, psychotic mother who was a ward of doctors and institutions, an absent father who was not a provider, a precarious home life, poverty and lack of certainty for the future, divorce, early sexual experiences, early abortions.

She seemed to be a very intelligent person, but her anger and transgressive morality seemed to be directed what she herself was unable to have.
