I know the country spends money on stuff far crazier than that. And I know that we can’t afford to fall behind in the “telescope race” (if there is such a thing).
But it must be said we are a debtor nation. That project was funded by borrowed money.

I have seen so many pics combining some random human’s imagination to overly enhanced images I have no anticipation for what comes out of this telescopes control center... 0 faith...
The Hubble Space Telescope allowed us to see a certain distance into the Universe. The James Webb Infrared Space Telescope can “see” even further.
Some of the Webb Telescope discoveries are of things that “should not be there” according to some current theories. Some “scientists” balk at the discoveries upsetting their cosmological apple cart.
Real scientists say something close to “wow!, back to the drawing board.”
What is beyond the capabilities, limits of the Webb Space Telescope?
We shall see.
I figured it was a Roman telescope named for Nancy Grace. But I never knew that the Romans had telescopes.

Nancy Grace Roman uses the telescope at Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, WI in 1948. Famous astronomers Edwin Hubble and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar also studied at Yerkes.
The headline baffled me for a moment . I thought of that awful TeeVee woman had something to do with a Roman telescope.
