A New Mexico man allegedly gunned down his cousin during a drunken argument over green enchiladas, according to reports.
Ervin Joaquin Gutierrez, 22, was cuffed on murder charges for allegedly killing his cousin, Nathaniel Cavazos, at an Albuquerque apartment complex on Thursday evening, according to police.
Gutierrez had arrived at the apartment that afternoon to visit Cavazos, 25, and another one of their cousins, and the three bought groceries and returned to the residence to cook green enchiladas and drink alcohol, according to an affidavit obtained by NBC News.
Gutierrez was repeatedly arguing that the chile on his enchiladas was hotter than the chiles on Cavazos’s plate and challenged his relative to try some of his.
Cavazos then contended that they were all eating the same enchiladas, so there wouldn’t be a difference in the spice level, the affidavit said.
Tensions began to escalate even as the third cousin suggested they take his dog for a walk to cool off. While outside, Cavazos and Gutierrez got into a fistfight, the third cousin told investigators.
Cavazos pummeled his spice-obsessed cousin hard enough to leave him bleeding and began walking away from the fight.
Gutierrez then whipped out a handgun and said, “We’re family! We’re family! How could you do this to me?” before blasting three or four gunshots toward his cousin, striking him in the back, the witness told police.
Cops arrived around 11 p.m. and found Cavazos dead in a pool of blood on a walkway between apartment buildings, the outlet reported.
A handgun belonging to Cavazos was also found roughly ten yards from his body.

Had a Columbian lesbian in my unit in Germany. Evidently “I’ll cut your heart out!” is a term of endearment in Columbia.
Get a rope.
Green chilis aren’t even that hot. My wife cooks with them all the time. Ever had green chili stew or roast cooked in a crock pot smothered in them?
There is more to this than the third cousin is telling.
Tacos and burritos? Maybe. But enchiladas? Never.
I want to know if the dog they went out to walk is ok.
I blame the Hatch chilies used in the Verde salsa. They should have made the *common sense* decision to use Rojo salsa instead. Enchilada Rrrraage.
To solve the green vs. red Chile debate simply “Christmas” it. Put both red and green chiles on your burrito or enchilada and sour cream in the middle.
Well, glad they resolved the issue.
Did the cops test the enchiladas to check if one was more spicy than the other?
Evidence might be needed in court.
“Get a rope...” One of my favorite Pace commercials, before some Yankee company bought them out.
What’s bizarre is the article had put a picture of enchiladas in the story.
The same with genuine Italian women, from Italia, not Italian-American Princesses.
Two drunk local locos with decrepit mind sets. Would have fought and killed each other for any other reason.
Obviously, it wasn’t only the enchiladas.
What movie is that?

Title is ABSOLUTELY false. Definite click bait title.
Victim was not gunned argument over enchiladas.
Victim was gunned down after victim had BEATEN the snot out of the perp AFTER the argument
Agitprop reporting? From the Post. Sad.
I was very disappointed at the Mexican food I was served in Albuquerque, but I wasn’t going to shoot anybody over it!
Locos Mayo I would understand…but enchiladas?
I got a bushel from Lemitar that just about sent me to the burn unit. Green can be plenty hot.
They don’t call it “To-kill-ya” for nothing.
