A truck packed with 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer vanished in California and police claim the missing haul could be part of a brazen cargo-theft operation that made off with roughly $70,000 in booze in a single morning.

Pabst Blue Ribbon said its truck and beer shipment were stolen, telling the person behind the disappearance that it understood the temptation to brag about having that much PBR, but wished they had gotten it "the honorable way."

Back in the day when I lived in the tiny town of Peel, Oregon, PBR was the go-to
thirst quencher.

The locals referred to the brew as 'Peel Billy Reserve', complete with the capital
letters.

after high school some guys I knew ripped off a bunch of beer from somewhere.

I dont remember if it was a truck or a place that bottled it, but they got busted and went to jail cause the cops pulled cans which had numbers on the bottom that matched the stolen ones from the apt bldg trash.

Stealing cans of PBR? Must be for recycling the cans because if you’re going to risk grand theft, you might as well steal something people will drink.

I was stationed at Wildflecken, Germany, 1975-1976, on a Brigade 75 assignment from Fort Hood, Texas. Our barracks was had a soda/beer dispenser in the hallway. I started drinking PBR during that tour because it usually was the only beer in the dispensing machine, and that has been has been my go-to beer since that time (and still is).

How is the brand “Bud Light” is still stuffing my local retail “Beer Cavern” with inventory?

They have to be paying my local gas station a ton of money.

Hated all beer until Iwent to Belgium. Their beer taststes fine to me: Stella Artois. Local Safeway has it, other places too. One beer at 5 before dinner is delightful and enough.

Pabst Blue Ribbon had been my favorite beer in my youth. But never in cans. That’s sacrilegious.

Well, on the bright side, lager beer doesn’t have a long shelf life so the thieves either have to move or drink it fairly quickly. Laying low and waiting it out isn’t much of an option unless you have a very, very large cooler!
