“”Some of it has definitely been for the better, my favorite examples being fuel injection replacing carburetors on automobiles and color TV. Amazing things in medicine have also transpired for the better. Most days, I am hard-pressed to name any other ‘changes’ beyond these that have been for the better.””

I hear you and agree. And... some of those amazing things... like computers and the internet (which I’m addicted to)... have also been used for evil purposes. Like everything the cretins get next to, it turns from a good thing into bad things real quick.
You’re 65 so you still have another decade or two to ‘observe’ the change. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I don’t think you’re going to like what’s coming. I know I’m not. All we can do is endure and hold fast to our faith in Jesus. He will make all things ‘right again’ (no pun intended...lol) at the appointed time.
I unfortunately think you’re right about what’s on the horizon, societally. And I also think you’re right, fortunately, about what’s on the horizon, spiritually. I did wander far, far off the path for years, and spent years trying to find it again. Had a surprise visit with Jesus a year or so ago (!!), and life is different —and much better— now.
