There’s more to this story, of course. Shooting from the uninformed but opinionated hip and assigning blame, my order would be:

1. The yayhoo parents who taught their kids that defying authority was acceptable;

2. The spoiled brats who pushed the limits, putting themselves and others in danger;;

3. The bus driver, who did his best to ensure the safety of his passengers under what was clearly an out of control situation. Seems he overreacted, having been pushed beyond his limits.

Do you imagine the bus driver knows that the woman demanding her child is, in fact the child’s mother? Kids were obviously rowdy on the bus to the point of one trying to jump out of the bus through a window. Driver calls the cops who take an hour to arrive. What is the driver supposed to do? The driver is responsible for the bus riders’ safety.

At the rural school were I used to teach, people picking up kids after school are now ‘checked in’ before getting to the pick up point and a list is checked to make sure they are authorized to have access to the kids.

Kids being rowdy on a school bus is an old story, but apparently it has now become nearly unbearable. Even kindergarten kids feel free to both ignore and defy adults who are supposed to be in authority and what’s worse, their parents support them.

Many parents have ZERO idea how the law actually works once you put your kid on the bus or drop them off at the school door..
