Much of America is freaking out over the Marxist takeover of the Democratic Party, but for anyone who paid attention, this wasn't hard to foresee. It has been coming for generations.
Both Yogi Berra and the great physicist Niels Bohr are credited with saying that "predictions are hard, especially about the future." Currently, much of America is freaking out over the Marxist takeover of the Democratic Party, but for anyone who paid attention, this wasn't hard to foresee. It has been coming for generations. If the party elders had not bent the rules so ruthlessly, Bernie Sanders and his DSA gang would have taken over years ago. The establishment media has been loath to admit any of this was happening, so they have only recently reported it. But make no mistake, massive political realignment is coming for the Democrats.
For most of the 20th century, the Democrats presented a flexible liberal centrism that won a lot of elections and papered over the fractured nature of their coalition. This was in contrast to the Republican creed of limited government, the rule of law, and strong defense ideas, dating back to Lincoln himself.
The Democrats were seen as more nimble in the face of new challenges. But eventually they had no answers for the Cold War or the out-of-control inflation economy of the 1970s. Later Presidents like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were talented but facile, and left no lasting principles. The party of government only had one idea in the end -- more government -- and far-left activists became the only people bringing energy to the party.
This took a long time to sink in, however, because of old voting habits. Eventually people had to deal with current political trends. For decades, Michael Barone's “Almanac of American Politics” series charted this

It may not matter. Violence can replace numbers. Recall that “Bolshevik” means “majority” but they never actually were, at least not until they’d murdered all their opponents.
Writer Frank Friday wrote "Some Muslims -- those from the Balkans, or the Kurds, like the great Enes Kanter Freedom, fit well in America. They share, as Pres. Lincoln said, "the moral sentiment" of the Founding Fathers".
He apparently didn't get the memo that Sharia Law supersedes all other laws, treaties and constitutions, and those who disagree are apostates or unbelievers deserving of death.
We all need to stay aware of that yet not lose our heads over it.
Spot on!
We’re feelin’ the Bern.
Yes, exactly.
I don't know about you, but I've told people on more than one occasion that the Democrats are really just communists at heart. At least I used to tell people that, when I was young.
Statements such as that were always met with scorn, derision, laughter. I was a "conspiracy theorist." "By your definition, anyone who's to the left of Ayn Rand is a communist!"
It's getting a bit difficult for people to carry that point in an argument, at last. Took 50 years, but they did a good job hiding it, with the MSM flying cover for them.
Dittos, Rush.
AI has potential aspects that can be very scary. However I am finding it very useful for pricing the vintage items I am selling in my small retirement home based business. AI can certainly be used by Dems politically, but we also need to remember that the Socialism practiced by Scandinavian countries looks a lot different than the kind practiced in Russia, China, and North Korea.
What worries me is how much patriotic Dem Americans may have been influenced by dedicated Marxist/Leninist revolutionary Socialists who have changed their spots to influence more democratically oriented Socialists. I know of a specific case where this has happened in the Socialist victory in New York. More details later.
The accretion of communism is demographic. The Institute of Social Research was planted at Teachers College. It takes time for those people to produce the number of students dedicated to overthrowing a pre-existing culture, and each of those could only tolerate so much deflection. Each of those cohorts produced new professors at other teachers colleges. Those teachers radicalized student populations which then fed back into the universities. It’s a generational ratcheting effect.
It took 30 years for the schools to produce students ready to be radicalized by the likes of Herbert Marcuse. Not a few became professors, who raised the generation now in positions of academic power. For that mechanic to be so uniform took a lot of retirements.

Yup.
Well said.
Your key word is ‘scary’. That’s all it takes to these people. I can remember the debate when VP Al Gore called attempts to privatize social security a ‘risky scheme’. I found the word scheme very offensive. The key word however was ‘risky’. It was aimed at women who don’t take risks like men do. Very smart. Smarter than we are. Let’s hope the people have caught up.
Truth be known bet the Democratic Party took over the Marxist party.
If not for the Fabian society the democrat party would have never appeared.
You make the most pertinent point.
Back in the old days Democrats represented labor, Republicans management. Whomever won really didn’t affect people’s everyday lives much.
Tip O’Neil was perhaps the last of the old guard.
Then the party decided to make the ultra rich, the ultra poor and college educated urban hipsters their base starting in the Clinton years.
Working class be damned.
COMMUNIST PARTY USA has never changed it’s position. The Democrats have simply moved into the Commie Camp.
