What's the view on 'MAGA 2.0'?
FR ^ | Aug 9 | RF

Posted on 08/09/2026 2:45:45 AM PDT by RandFan

Reading FR then flicking to Twitter/X is sometimes like night and day. There's a lot of dissent there among those I happen to follow (NOT Lefitsts or anything like that) regarding: Israel, Iran War, foreign policy and the Administration generally.

A lot of hot topics that get discussed here all the time and former Representatives or officials are leading the charge: MTG, Kent, Tucker Carlson and Massie the most prominent with many large accounts echoing them.

It's clear to me this is more than just a few rebels who have no influence or standing in fact MTG says in one of her latest posts: "The Movement has begun".

She is referring to 'MAGA 2.0' and a split from the Trump admin who they accuse of breaking promises of no more foreign wars and for their handling of the Epstein saga.

This has implications I think for Vance or anyone else in the administration who might want to run for president in future.

This is just an observation. I'm no troll but feel hesitant to post (or re-post) some of their stuff because it might attract complaints.

Sometimes I feel like walking on egg shells especially with foreign policy posts which I think is the main fissure in play and where some of us naturally agree with them on.

Are Twitter/X ahead of the curve or out of order?

The new owners never understood the secret sauce that made FR great.

There's a lot of surrender monkeys here on FreeRepublic as well.

I don’t think there will be a MAGA 2.0 in the sense that Trump is not going to dominate the next Republican administration. He is a big pesonality but he is in his 80s and a lot of his political power is personal to him. But a couple things that Trump did will endure - Trump pulled the Republican Party away from the Washington / Neocon / Open Borders/ FBI establishment. The Boehners who cried that there was nothing the GOP could do even when they held huge majorities in the House and Senate. The McConnells who cut backroom deals with the Dems, the Cornyns who talked conservative but then voted for open borders. And Trump definintely made the GOP more blue collar. The populist shift started in the GOP with the Tea Party and Trump solidified it. That is for the good. Frankly, the GOP was headed for permanent minority status until that happened. But politics changes quickly and as dominant as a force as Trump is now, his influcence will fade. If Vance is elected, we will be surprised how quickly he puts his own stamp on the presidency (with all the normal cries of betrayal). Remember how quickly Bush Sr. started pulling away from the hugely popular Reagan legacy?

When the MSM starts pumping Vance for the GOP nomination and he’s clearly tied to the MAGA 2.0 lunatics I think your question has been answered.

How can they be "MAGA 2.0" when they were never "MAGA 1.0" to begin with?

(1) Marietta Gym whore turned phony grifter MTG had zero involvement in politics until after Trump was elected, said all the right things, and people believed her. She jumped into bed (literally) with RINO Kevin McCarthy, and did his bidding until he was deposed. Then, like the whore she is, switched sides. Now we find out she was best buds with Code Pink's Medea Menjamin for "several years." How is any of this "MAGA"?

(2) Tucker Carlson was a swamp rat on Crossfire for years defending the D.C. status quo. Then he was rather comfortable as the only "conservative" on PMSNBC. Then at Fox we saw his emails saying how much he HATED Donald J. Trump. Then he got canned, and a Muslim billionaire handed him $25 million to start a new media empire and - BOOM - he suddenly switched to a Jew-bashing grift. Where's the "MAGA" is any of this?

(3) Thomas Massie was the only Republicans to vote against BOTH of Trump's tax cuts - especially his crucial 2017 one that ignited the economy and markets, and still is. Massie also joined his "Squad" buddies and voted against Trump's border wall funding bill. He then voted against censuring the traitor and SCIF-leaker Adam Schiff, and also against censuring Rashida Tlaib. Finally, he opposed a ban on "gender-affirming care" (we all know what that means) for "trans kids." MAGA??

(4) Joe Kent seems too trivial to even mention here. Trump did him a favor because he felt sorry for him after he lost his House race, giving him a post for which he had zero prior qualifications (an unfortunate habit of the good-hearted Trump). Kent abused that trust and spent his brief tenure leaking and lying and trying to help yet another fake-MAGA grifter......

(P.S.) Candace Owens - a leftist Trump-hater and serial fraudster until 2017 who, like MTG, suddenly lurched to "our side" to support Trump and become the DEI darling of naive, but very foolish men like Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro, who did not even seem to glance at her horrific past before hiring her.

ALL of these truly vile creatures are now willing servants to the greatest threat to America and the West that we currently face: the "Red-Green Alliance." Aligning and empowering the enemies of freedom can not, in any way whatsoever he called "America First" or "Making America Great Again."

Ahead of the curve? lololol

All social media is infested with leftist-biased twits these days, including forums like here at FR. Some are paid propagandists, some are zealots and some are just uninformed, stupid people that ask stupid questions and pretend to not know the answer.

Oh, I wouldn’t say that you are ‘trying’ to be neutral. More like... ‘pretending’ to be neutral, from my estimation of your ssdd posts and threads.

“”The enemy can prove to be resilient even in the face of ground invasion and total war. Look at Vietnam and Iraq for evidence.

Unless you favor this approach and are prepared to spend 20 years on it in the case of Iraq. It’s totally pointless in my view””

***

The difference is... the globalists are not in the WH right now. Trump is. The globalist leftists are the ones that made shock-sure that we didn’t “win” Vietnam... and they made Iraq into the quagmire it was. The ONLY reason why Obama ended the Iraq war is because that was what helped his Muslim Brotherhood buds. I know you’ll be disappointed re: that, but it is the reality.

Spot on. The dumbed down and indoctrinated, clueless public are all about instant gratification... despite the fact that that usually results in disaster, later on (the end results of them voting for commies and free stuff).

It is discouraging. It isn’t just a difference of opinion. It is the tone of the opinions, the sources they post them from, and the regularity from this core group of people that is the issue.

There are posters with whom I disagree specifically and vigorously on various things, but...I barely blink an eye when I see they have started a thread, and can engage in civil discourse with them.

That is because those Freepers aren’t like the “one trick ponies” who always seem to post from the likes of CNN, Mediaite, The New York Times, (and even lately, the Wall Street Journal which I have largely abandoned as a source of The Deep State.)

Day after day, the same things, the same tone, from the same people often on the same subjects and all the usual suspects flock to those threads like flies to feces in order to hum at the same frequency as a tuning fork that has been struck.

That is what I have an issue with.

Get your facts straight: Trump borrowed “MAGA” from Reagan. Conservatism has always been about policy and agenda. Not Dear Leader populism.

“”They all spout the same crap. They all show up in the same threads.””

Right. And one might logically make the supposition that they are all the same person... except that each individual poster’s stance on certain issues seems to vary depending on the time of day. I have noticed that they’re not consistent. Almost... as if there was a computer somewhere being manned by a ‘revolving door’ set of operatives. If that is the case, I wonder if they have to punch in on a timeclock...lol.

In the good ole days, before VPNs, you could check their IPs to determine if they’re really multiple posters or from a single location. Oh well...

If that is the case, MAGA doesn't outlive Trump. We need something like MAGA that doesn't rely on one man for its essence.
