‘See You At Training Camp’ Former NBA Player Declares Himself WNBA Prospect, As Many In League Receptive to Trans Inclusion

A male former NBA player is declaring himself eligible to join the WNBA, attempting to highlight how the league’s rules inadequately define women and effectively allow trans players.

Former Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter Freedom on Friday released a video saying he meets the WNBA’s criteria for players and that his representatives plan to hold the league to the letter of their governing framework.

“If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required, then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA,” Freedom said.

“My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion. Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in May 2027.”

“I am definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or disrespect any community or personal choices.I am simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone. The rules that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly advocated for.”

“My team and I are prepared to ensure these guidelines are applied equally, consistently and without exception. And I look forward to the WNBA honor in its stated principles,” he said, adding, “See ya at training camp.”

Freedom’s semi-tongue-in-cheek stunt aiming to call the WNBA’s bluff follows controversy over remarks by Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham, who told ESPN last month that she wants “to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sports who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”

She then doubled down the next day, telling interviewers, “I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense.”

Cunningham’s remarks incensed many in the league, with Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeves wearing a “Trans kids belong” shirt when her team went up against the Fever last Sunday.

The remarks also prompted the likes of Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams to express support for trans players, saying she wouldn’t mind playing against one and wants one on her team.

Likewise, Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase has similarly claimed she wouldn’t mind trans players in the sport saying, “Sports is about belonging. It’s about inclusivity. It’s about allowing everyone to be their authentic self.”

Meanwhile, President Trump hit a layup on Tuesday joking that if he coached a WNBA team he’d want NBA legend Lebron James to turn trans and play for him.

Radio host Clay Travis this week also unveiled a $10 million offer to last year’s WNBA championship winners, the Las Vegas Aces, to play a high school state title boy’s team, saying the winning team could split the pot however they like with proceeds from the pay-per-view event going to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Current NBA players Lonzo Ball and the Brooklyn Nets’ Michael Porter Jr. salivated at the prospect of going up against WNBA players, saying 8th and 9th grade versions of themselves could easily get the job done.

Some might not, but that’s not always correct. I used to play a lot of pickup ball in Nashville. One of the “regulars” was a guy from Vandy. One Thursday night he brought 3 women from the Vandy women’s team with him. 2 future WNBA players, and 1 not. One of them hit the first 3 point shot in WNBA history (Rhonda Blades), and the other Sheree Sims (Probably spelled that wrong), had DEFINITELY played around the brothers. As she was like female Jordan against us. Very fast, very athletic, cut and slash to the basket, she was amazing.

Well its true that when girls get good at BB they often practice or do pick up games with boys. But, in general I think there is a reluctance of the boys to give them NBA treatment. I am surprised every time I see a woman bait and taunt a man into giving them the one punch knockout they deserve. A rip-through by a 240 lb guy with a 18” biceps would put Angel Reece in the hospital.

Yes, absolutely. They’re built differently from men. Even the overly athletic ones.

Natalie Nakase likes to be inclusive.
To force inclusivity, who is she fixin to exclude?

Saul Alinsky was a mob connected union organizer, and an effective organizer of dues paying members that the mob could later exploit.

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Sophie is this month’s target!

Who are the owners of the WNBA teams and why are they so silent? All it will take is one owner, that wants to win, stating they look forward to drafting the new trannies and this thing will boil over.

Organized Sportball leagues have natural categories for the benefit of the players

Boxing and wrestling have weight categories.
Men’s teams and Women’s teams
Age categories

TV show “Seinfeld”. Everyone was impressed Kramer rose to the top of his karate dojo in a very short period of time. Turns out Kramer was fighting six year olds and defeating all the six year olds in his dojo.

You create categories in sportball to have fair competion

Be honest now.

Before the current controversies, how many here ever thought about women's professional basketball even a little bit?
The point being the controversies are good for getting publicity and therefore good for business.
Very likely many lefties who never followed women's sports before are now WNBA fans.

What is not true of the Olympics, nor of amateur athletes connected with schools, nor of most enterprises (not just sports), *is* true of the WNBA.
That is, troons are good for business.

There is of course the moral issue of not encouraging troons at all ever no matter what, so that is a good reason to be against it.
But there's more going on here than the usual "wokeness". It's business.

If they collude to exclude men, that is a potential antitrust violation. That‘s a bigger problem.

If I were Elon Musk, I'd start my own WNBA team with nothing but professional level ball players who would identify as women purely for the games. We'd crush the competition.

Then I'd start another team the exact same way. Legitimate female players would fade into obscurity and the viewer audience would drop to zero.

The league bosses might then admit their obtuseness and stupidity.

I’m predicting none of the former NBA players ever set foot on a WNBA court during league play. That league will figure a way out of it. I think they’ll find a way to get an “authentic” trans dude who just isn’t that good at basketball and let HIM in as a token. I really hope I’m wrong though. this is comedy gold!
