As noted by others here previously, when you take a closer look, the demographics are even uglier. The vast majority of incidents involve males, so reduce the 13% to perhaps 7%. Then narrow it further to include only younger (15 to 30?) cohort that commits most of the crimes, and you end up with maybe 3% of the population committing 50% of the violent crimes in our nation.
