Way too many posters seem to be in a contest to see who can post the snarkiest most inappropriate comment first followed by dozens of emojis laughing at their own comments. It is almost like there is a prize to be "The first worst comment".
I suspect some are trolls but some show membership over many years in their profiles. IMO The trend parallels the lack of taste many social media sites have developed over the past few years.

I’m not competing with anyone. I’m GenX, and sarcastic and cynical is my default setting.

LOL. Free Republic has been full of snark as long as I have been here.
Now I wonder if some are in a contest to outdo each other with their snark.
And since the target is Mitch McConnell, and Mitch McConnell is hated on Free Republic, that too will encourage even more snarky commentary.
