The capture of the juvenile tiger shark comes as scientists warn of a surge of warm-water species migrating north due to rising ocean temperatures.
Tiger sharks are commonly found in southern waters such as the Caribbean Sea and their appearance in Massachusetts is an indicator of warming seas.
The brothers, Nate and Nelson Rouette, are longtime sport fishermen who live in Massachusetts and were fishing for more commonly found brown sharks. The five-foot juvenile they hooked can grow to over 15 feet and 1,400 pounds.
Tiger sharks eat a variety of ocean life including fish, crustaceans and birds, and are even known to have a palate for inanimate objects such as license plates and shoes.

I live in a blue state, and my wife went to a local garden sale and brought a couple of Wandering Jews to donate, and you could almost see the prissy blue-bloods clucking and darting around as if “their hair was on fire and their asses were catching” (to credit the Charlie Daniels Band there!

I went camping with some friends at Acadia National Park up in Maine some years back and we were all sitting around a roaring campfire when we heard a noise behind us. We turned and saw the biggest, fattest raccoon I have ever seen in my entire life. I estimated it at about 50 lbs. I have never seen a wild animal so obese.
It looked at us insolently for a few seconds before ambling unconcernedly away.
A while later, a Park Ranger came by to tell us to reduce our fire, and when we told him about the raccoon, he knew exactly what raccoon we were talking about and referred to it as “The General”!
I was pretty astonished! Of course, I would have said to the shark: “Sucks to be below the top in the food chain, eh?”

Hubby thought it was pretty freaky, too.
