The farther today's Democratic Socialists advance, the less they resemble reformers—and the more they embrace policies long associated with communism.
It is not difficult, these days, to see the neo-communist flipside of “Democratic Socialists”—once they find power.
Indeed, the more the ossified Democratic Party claims that its growing cadre of socialist renegades are not really socialists, the more they act like—and even appear comfortable being called—communists.
With every new policy they propose, the socialists have been dropping the pretense that they are not Marxists.
How about declaring capitalism a failure?
All the socialists now do that—and even Democratic California governor Gavin Newsom has also started agreeing that “capitalism as we know it doesn’t work either.” Oddly, Newsom himself, a multimillionaire and a beneficiary of arch-capitalist Gordon Getty’s largesse, seems to have done quite well under capitalism.
Confiscating private property?
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani claims he will do just that if New York’s landlords, in his opinion, are poor custodians of their own property.
Dismantling the U.S. Constitution?
Almost all Democrats have long called for destroying the 238-year-old Electoral College. And now the socialists openly brag that, when they take over the Democratic Party and then the nation, they will, as good Bolsheviks, go much further: destroying the Senate, destroying the Pentagon, destroying prisons, destroying the police, and destroying our borders.
And they want to take over utilities, break up or absorb corporate agriculture, and own major industries. Apparently, socialists believe that with a snap of their fingers they can destroy key elements of the U.S. constitutional order. Would these “socialists” even resent their agenda being called “communist”?

Free Market instead of capitalism
In general political circles they’re are really only three categories and can’t stand two of them: Communists, RINOs, Conservatives. ;-)
The Communist Control Act of 1954: Passed during the Cold War Red Scare technically stripped the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) of its rights as a political party and criminalized party membership.
Enforcement Status: The federal government has never actively enforced the Communist Control Act, and lower courts have routinely ignored it or declared it unconstitutional.
Loyalty Oaths: The Supreme Court has repeatedly struck down state laws requiring citizens to sign certificates or oaths denying communist affiliation to hold jobs.
Non-Criminal Consequences
While not a criminal offense, identifying as a communist can still carry civil and social ramifications in the United States:Employment: Private employers generally have the right to fire workers for their political activities, provided it does not violate local labor laws.
Security Clearances: Adherence to communism can prevent individuals from obtaining federal security clearances or working in certain sensitive government roles.
Immigration: Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, membership in a communist party can still be used as a basis to deny entry or permanent residency (Green Cards) to foreign nationals seeking to live in the United States.

When I grew up—Commie was seen as a godless enemy to be fought “Better Dead than Red”.
Now it is a dedicated idealist who loves the working man, and will see a utopia of all things free for all.
The Government is your friend, the Party is your kind mother. The Leader, First secretary of the Party, your all wise father. BUNK!
Now if we could just get our Constitution to actually be the Law of the Land. Many Democrats seem violently opposed to that.
