Don’t let the military off the hook for piddling money away. No-bid contracting and lazy spec writers are just a couple of weak spots. Around 1970 we were building Fast Attack NUKE submarines for 50 million$ more or less and that held steady into the 90’s. Now we spend over one billion$ to build one. That’s 20X in less than half a century which is way past inflation.
And why do we spend 100 million$ to build an F-35 fighter jet? I think I could do that with solid gold rivets. How do we pound that much money into ONE little airplane? We’ve lost a couple , it seems, to pilot error. Could we spend a few more bucks to teach Sky King how to fly them?
In recent years the Pentagon has not come up with where lots of money went. Black hole. Definitely needs auditing and some kind of oversight so money is not wasted, squandered or stolen.
