He described it as the “dominant Islamic power in the Middle East and on the road to nuclear weapons” and asserted it posed a risk of “nuclear holocaust.” His administration implemented a “maximum pressure” campaign (ie., economic warfare) involving over 1,500(!) sanctions, increased cooperation with regional allies, and withdrew from the JCPOA to counter Iran.

Additionally (you have to be dishonest to “forget” this one), Trump authorized multiple military strikes against Iranian-backed proxy groups during his first administration, marking a significant escalation from previous U.S. policy.
