I have never been fond of Cracker Barrel, though I’ve eaten there many times.

For franchise diners, I prefer Village Inn. Good breakfast or lunch. Otherwise, you’ll find me in a hole-in-the-wall Mexican or local roadhouse with sarcastic waitresses.

“I never liked the old CB.”

I ate at one once. I do not like cookie-cutter, formulaic restaurants like CB, Red Lobster, Dennies, etc. I always seek out local places, not chains. I like giving the hard-working local proprietors the business.

My kids treated me to a birthday dinner a great Nepali Restaurant called “Kathmandu” the other night. It was SO good. Tonight I took my son to our local Mexican joint “Fiesta Vallarta.” It’s been in town for decades. Great basic Mexican fare, but very well executed. They’ve got a delightful courtyard patio in the back. Great place to sit for a summer evening dinner.

I liked the old CB, decades ago my wife worked there when a new CB opened up, food was good, got her through nursing school, though out restaurant was never remodeled, still has tobacco adds😂, we have ate there a couple of times recently and were disappointed both times 🤔
