Boy, 6, who has autism is suspended from school for biting his sandwich into the shape of a GUN

A six-year-old autistic boy was suspended from a school in Georgia after he bit his sandwich into the shape of a gun and pointed it at his classmate, his family said.

John Medina, a first-grader at Sara Harp Minter Elementary School in Fayette County, was kicked out last March after administrators saw what happened, according to his parents and school records, Atlanta News First reported.

Kristin Medina, the boy's mother, recalled the school calling her and saying her son was not welcome back after the lunchtime incident.

'And you're just like baffled,' Kristin told the outlet, stating that she believes the school did not properly consider her child's disability before deciding to suspend him.

Although the incident occurred more than a year ago, Kristin said she wanted to bring renewed attention to it in hopes that administrators could have a better understanding of how kids with disabilities act.

According to school records obtained by the outlet, more than two dozen disciplinary actions have been issued to John, including some that involved him kicking and punching other students during recess.

The school disciplined John at least 33 times, including 14 suspensions, since 2023, the records stated.

John was previously suspended for pointing a water bottle at someone else while making gun noises, and he was reprimanded for drawing a pilgrim shooting a turkey, records showed.

I guess the drag queen who was twerking in a thong in front of him as part of the library story hour program got scared.

This “gun-phobia” is going on in one of our Southern States?
Georgia is known to be a good place for lots of hunting, including white tail deer, feral hogs and troublemaker turkeys.

It’s the modern administrators who suck.

Back when I started teaching in city schools years ago, we had administrators who understood that their job was to help, to make things run smoothly.

I would welcome it when one of them visited my classroom.

Things changed when those administrators began to retire, around the year 2000. Their replacements were younger, woke idiots. They were always looking for something to pick at.

“Teacher, you talk too much while presenting your lesson.”
“Teacher, you don’t talk enough while presenting your lesson.”

I was actually once reprimanded for not standing near the center of the blackboard. I was standing too much to one side, I guess.

Do I miss those days?
No, I do not.

Every single teacher and administrator involved with this incident needs to be slapped across the face hard and twice.

"Again?"

Back in 2013, it was a Pop-Tart.

Note: If your autistic child was suspended for 33 times. That school is not the best place for your Boy.
There should be no shame in finding a more appropriate school that would be more welcoming to an autistic child.
Ask your local Regional System for help. He may need a 1 to 1 attendant in class for a while. The general public school is not prepared to provide such accomodations.

We have friends with an autistic kid. They homeschooled for years but he got worse and needs more care.

The school idiots are trying to mainstream him and telling his parents their kid who can barely add 3+4 can do algebra.

Shes being advised by a friend who has been going to the meeting with her. They never told these idiots that she’s a special needs law instructor at a prestigious university.

The next meeting will be a blast.

I knew mainstreaming would fail this is a classic example. Yet his idiot parents will still try pushing a square peg into a round hole. Why? Because he’s entitled to public school education as prescribed by law and they somehow think that is superior.

Such schools just want any matching funds that would come with a full roster of students, regardless of that student’s needs or background. Some homeschooled kids may have done fine until they are about 10 years old.

At that point, many will begin to rebel and reject certain rules from the household. Similar to most preteens, but done haphazardly.
At that age of rebellion, the peer group of the child often seems to matter far more than what their parents want. Again, similar to most preteens.

“Every single teacher and administrator involved with this incident needs to be slapped across the face hard and twice.” And do it with a gun sandwich. Honestly, these effin morons have zero common sense and discernment.

Some parents are trying to hold onto employment to keep the bills paid (and to have a few short hours to clear their heads), so these parents don’t want to let go of the notion that Schools are sorta/mostly free Babysitters.
I see their point, needing the income and needing momentary relief from the grinding stress of raising a disabled child, but facts are facts.

Could be worse

If he had bitten the sandwich into the shape of a penis, the groomer teachers would have taken it as a sign to molest him.

I’d say he’s way better off not going to that school. BTAIM, his parents should sue.
