I have a clear plastic cup and a thin, flat plastic sheet, about the size of a greeting card, the kind of thing that used to come in a packet of pantyhose... I use it for spider removal. I just put the cup over the spider, and slide the sheet underneath it carefully, under their little legs, and then I can just pick the whole thing up and carry them outside and set them free without hurting them. I realized that the squish was what horrified me. I don’t like to kill things. So I’ve lost a lot of my fear of spiders and bugs, because while they’re under the clear cup, I can hold them up to the light and get a good look at them. Sometimes the spiders put their front legs on the cup and seem to be getting a good look at me too. Then I take them outside and find a new home for them. It’s actually quite fun.

” I don’t like to kill things.”

Good for you. I even let spiders live in my house because they eat the mosquitos I can’t catch. I’ve watched those funny looking jumping spiders hunt down houseflies on the window, so they earn their free rent. The spiders don’t bother me, and I don’t bother them. Sure the webs can be unsightly but when I see the carcass of a desiccated mosquito of fly I am just fine with it. If I have to catch one if it is a nuisance I always try to catch them and throw them in the garden. They are just doing spider things, they can’t help it.

Let the birds , and the other hungry beasties kill lil’ ol’spidey!.....
I think spiders are cool, I get a spider bite on my arms or legs about once a year...two little marks close together ..sometimes they get inflamed, start itching ,and start a big infection...I try and exterminate them if they get too close to me...they will be inconsiderate and bite me...

Befitting your screen name!
