“The bell would ring, and the doors couldn’t fly open fast enough… kids would pour onto the playground like they were just released from prison.”

FINALLY, someone else uses the prison analogy. I’ve always said that comparing public schools is like comparing cell blocks - you really don’t want to be in any of them (but many, perhaps most, of you have forced your kids into them).

The ban on recess is to benefit the professional “educators.” It reduces the potential for violence.

That's no exaggeration. The latest junior/senior high school built in my county could easily double as a minimum security prison with it's electronic doors, cameras and a design that insures no one goes outside between opening and closing bells.

Curriculum-wise recess isn't the only endangered institution. Physical Exercise classes (P.E.) have become mostly voluntary where it's common to see kids opting out to stay on their phones during that time. Civics is as dead as Latin language courses as that interferes with Democrat programming. Then there's the insidious "gender fluidity" garbage that teaching has no business indulging in.

It's a wonder most kids come out of there sane at all.

School is actually worse than prison.

In prison you don’t get graded tests that confirm you believe their propaganda.

Not like my parents had a choice to not send us kids to the public schoo-wer (sewer); they wrent poor as dirt but weren’t wealthy and not a church had a school. It’d been better they’d rented a house in another town so we’d been able to avoid the destructive aspects of desegregation. A school system where 98% of kids were not Black.
And the time I spent on the playground at recess in grade school wasn’t spent sorting out the mayhem thrust upon me in class. Where I was assaulted physically, screamed at, my supplies stolen, etc.

Yep I came home with my clothes dirty and all sometimes but I beat the tar out of “Finnigan” and grew a very thick skin so I’d be able to stand my ground later in life. And I do.
