They’re bot for teacher.
A rural upstate New York school district will be one of the first in the nation to bring a humanoid robot into the classroom.
The Salamanca City Central School District, located on Seneca Nation territory, will be introducing $57,000 AI-powered “Sally” in high school classes in September as a teaching assistant, it announced last week.
“Sally” will have brown hair, latex skin and will be able to move its arms and hands — but won’t be able to cruise around the classroom since her legs don’t move.
“It’s exciting but also a bit nerve wracking,” superintendent Dr. Mark Beehler told The Post of the first of its kind pilot program, a partnership with Las Vegas-based company Realbotix Corporation.
“Not everyone is open to much change in education…There was a point in time where people argued ‘Why do teachers need email accounts?’ or ‘Do we really need to have the internet in school?’ This is the next iteration of that. And the reality is, AI is already in schools,” he said.
For now, Sally is scheduled to be in 11th and 12th graders at Salamanca High School where she will take a byte out of coding, robotic, and artificial intelligence classes.
To make Sally more approachable, she’ll feature a western New York accent — similar to Buffalo native Gov. Kathy Hochul — at the behest of the school district.
“We don’t really hear the accent. We think it sounds neutral,” Beehler joked.

So can Sally be charged with sex crimes when she sleeps with one or more of the underage students? Asking for a humanoid robot friend.
Remember the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Total Recall, like Robocop also directed by Paul Verhoeven.
Put one of these robots into a self-driving car and you get a real world Johnny Cab.
Using a robot, guided by AI, to help teachers instruct students about robotics and AI? Love it! I would have killed to have that kinda tool when I was learning coding. But nope! I got classes in how to use a slide rule and lectured about why HP makes better calcs that TI. Kids today are spoilt!
When I was twelve (I’m 52 now so this was the mid Eighties) my dad gave me a slide rule. He found it in a store somewhere and decided it would be good for me to learn how to use it. It fascinated me. I never quite got the knack of it but space buff that I was I knew that slide rules were used a LOT by the space program to design spacecrafts and calculate trajectories, and that made it special.
I’m shocked that “Sally” is white and conventionally pretty, with no tats or ironmongery. Must be a lesbian.

You just know, some smart alecky group of guys will video themselves doing some very “unfriendly” things to the robot.

A robot teacher will continue talking even when misbehaving and undisciplined students laugh and joke around. It will never be nonplussed or feel threatened. Arm it with some stun devices for the more difficult riff raff. It could never be sued!/sarc
